Aunt Sandra swung the door open as Thompson stepped in with his 'latest mistake' according to Sandra's words – Vera. Sandra's lips tightened ever so slightly, a motion that betrayed her discontent. The sight of Vera with her ever so present sneer face ignited worry in Sandra for her beloved son.
It seemed the young lady has her claws deep into Thompson that the young man would take her back without much thought. "So much for a quiet family night." Sandra mused.
"Thompson, Vera." Sandra managed to utter, her voice steady, despite the anger brewing inside her, "Welcome, we've been expecting you." She gave Thompson a look that said, "Why did you bring such a nasty girl to family dinner?" But, Thompson simply shrugged.
"She's my girlfriend, Mom." He replied the silent question.
