Chapter 72 - Chapter 72: The Great Sea Battle of Skegli (Part Two)

Kong and Zephyr exchanged a glance.

With a sonic boom underfoot, Kong charged toward Roger.

Zephyr rushed toward the Oro Jackson.

That World Government ability user vanished in a flash, darting toward a distant battleship.

He reappeared on the deck and retrieved Vice Admiral Kvel.

...

Garp and Roger, who had just been blasted backward by the violent shockwave, were still entangled, clashing violently as they fell into the sea.

Garp's fists were coated in the deepest shade of Armament Haki, surging forward toward Roger at breakneck speed.

Being in the sea didn't slow Garp down at all.

As he cut through the water, it was as if the surface split apart, and massive waves surged several meters high on either side of him.

Roger floated half above the surface, watching Garp charge at him. He gripped his blade with both hands, now wreathed in Conqueror's Haki.

He raised the long sword high and slashed downward at an angle.

A swirling black sword slash hundreds of meters wide tore through the sea toward Garp, carving open the ocean as it spun.

A cylindrical chasm several hundred meters wide appeared and continued extending forward.

Garp's eyes lit up as he saw the incoming attack. He pulled his right arm back to the limit, gathering power.

As the massive slash approached, he struck forward with a punch.

The veins bulged along his muscular right arm as his fist smashed directly into the center of the slash.

At the same time, his Armament Haki surged forward to reinforce the impact.

"Aaaahhhhhhhhhhh!!!"

With a roar and bulging veins across his face, Garp added more force—Boom!

A huge hole exploded open in the sea, hundreds of meters wide around him.

The slash, now infused with Garp's Armament Haki, suddenly reversed direction.

With a forceful stomp that created another sonic boom, Garp launched himself forward, skimming just above the sea's surface toward Roger.

Roger clicked his tongue as the redirected slash barreled back at him.

He infused his sword with Conqueror's Haki once again, and as the attack neared—

He swung his blade down upon the massive slash.

The impact sent Roger flying out of the water.

Skimming above the surface, he slid backward at great speed, throwing up sky-high geysers on both sides.

With a slight shift of his left foot, he drew both hands back and twisted his upper body.

Using his momentum, he launched another slash—slightly smaller than the last one.

The two slashes, large and small, spun together in a twisting formation, heading toward Fleet Admiral Kong who was racing toward the battlefield from behind.

Fleet Admiral Kong's body was coated in Armament Haki as he saw the twin slashes approaching.

He stomped the sea and soared into the sky, leaping over the attacks.

Just as he passed above them, he slashed his hand downward.

A wave of invisible Armament Haki shot out and struck the center of the twin slashes.

Half a breath later, both slashes exploded violently.

The resulting shockwave propelled Kong forward, even faster than before, as he surged toward Roger.

His arms pulled to his sides.

Condensed Armament Haki began forming drill-like cones along his forearms.

Once fully formed, he swung both arms, unleashing afterimages as a flurry of drill-shaped shock bullets fired toward Roger.

Roger looked up at the rain of cone-shaped blasts, raising his sword to block the barrage.

Clang!

The cone-shaped bullet struck the blade with a crisp ring.

Then, blinding white light burst forth as energy surged.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!...

The cone-shaped shock bullets poured down like a torrential storm, surrounding Roger.

The initial impact triggered a chain reaction, detonating the entire barrage.

BOOM!!!

The explosion seemed to come from a single unified source.

Centered on Roger, a massive explosion erupted.

A huge crater several hundred meters wide blasted open in the sea.

And the blast zone continued expanding under the force of the explosion.

Before it could reach its limit, a sudden blade flash cut through the explosion's core.

A black tornado-like sword slash surged upward and exploded outward.

The wind pressure from the burst shredded the shockwaves of the explosion, transforming into a wild, raging storm.

In the heart of the explosion, Roger stared at his two attackers closing in from both sides.

A fierce look of madness flashed in his eyes.

He gripped his blade tightly, Haki swirling around it, and unleashed a mighty slash.

The blade gleamed!

...

Oro Jackson.

The crew aboard had already maneuvered the ship away from the battlefield between Sengoku, Rayleigh, and Gaban.

They were now heading toward Garp's warship.

At that moment, Zephyr descended from the sky, slamming into the deck.

The impact shattered the deck outward in every direction.

The crew instantly raised their guard. The towering Seagull charged forward.

His nearly four-meter-tall frame bulged with muscle, radiating brutality.

Like a raging wild boar weighing several tons, he charged straight ahead—no fancy techniques.

With Armament Haki coating his fist, he punched at Zephyr. The punch howled through the air with overwhelming force.

But Zephyr stood unmoving, both arms already clad in Armament Haki.

He stepped forward with his left foot and drew his right fist back.

Whoosh!

A piercing sonic crack split the air, sharper than the whistle of Seagull's punch.

Without anyone noticing, Zephyr's right fist had already slammed forward, directly meeting Seagull's fist.

BOOM!

The impact thundered as shockwaves blasted out from the clash, sweeping across the ship.

Seagull's expression changed drastically. His tower-like, Haki-covered arm trembled with bulging veins, revealing signs of losing the contest.

Meanwhile, Zephyr remained calm and composed. His black-armored wrist tightened.

Crack!

The sound of bone breaking rang out. Seagull's face twisted in pain, drenched in cold sweat.

He was sent flying, clutching his arm, and slammed into the ship's railing.

Struggling to his feet, Zephyr closed in.

His cold, black arm entered Seagull's field of vision, a steel hand locking around his throat.

Seagull gasped for air, struggling, but Zephyr raised his right fist, ready to deliver the killing blow.

The other crew members attacked.

The first was Sunbell, a burly fish-man with a plump appearance.

Beneath his bulk lay immense power.

A black fish spear shot toward Zephyr's temple with a sharp whistling sound.

A growing sense of danger filled Zephyr's heart, but he no longer showed mercy.

He raised his right arm to block the incoming spear.

Clang!

At the same time, he yanked Seagull's throat inward with his left hand.

His left knee, wrapped in Armament Haki, slammed up into Seagull's skull—then let go.

Crack!

The crisp crack of bone echoed as Seagull's skull caved in.

Fragments pierced through his skin, and his entire face collapsed inward.

Zephyr's released left hand raised high in a fist and hammered the back of Seagull's head.

Bang!

A brutal explosion of force. The massive figure collapsed to the ground, completely still.

"Seagull!!!"

"You bastard!!!"

"AAAAHHHHHH ZEHPHYR!!!"

Ignoring the raging crew, Zephyr grabbed the fish spear tip with his right hand and yanked it out.

"RAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!"

Veins popped on Zephyr's face as he let out a furious roar.

With one hand, he hoisted Sunbell—still clinging to his fish spear—and hurled him into the deck.

BOOM!

The fish spear twisted from the impact. Sunbell was flung backward, crashing down.

Zephyr targeted his grip on the spear and stomped down with his Armament Haki-coated left foot.

Crack!

...

Rayleigh and Gaban, who were fighting Sengoku in the distance, suddenly turned their heads toward the Oro Jackson.

Their expressions darkened, and they tried to break away and return.

But having previously held Sengoku back, they now found themselves blocked by him instead.

Seizing the momentary distraction—

The massive golden Buddha, dozens of meters tall, clapped both hands toward them. Blinding golden light erupted.

BZZZZZ—!

BOOM!!!

A mushroom cloud hundreds of meters high rose into the sky.

...

Back on the battlefield, Roger, who was still fighting Kong and Garp, suddenly sensed his crewmates' auras vanish.

Scarlet fury surged into his eyes as violent energy erupted from his body.

With an explosive burst, he forced back Kong and Garp, trying to rush back to his ship.

But the sound of tearing wind came from behind.

Kong and Garp entangled him again, blocking the enraged Roger.

Even in his frenzied state, Roger found himself overwhelmed by their combined might.

Black and purple lightning exploded outward, killing intent flooding the air, making him even more furious.

BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM!!!...
