Kayden stopped by a restaurant and bought enough food to serve not only himself and Thaddeus but also the staff, Luke, and Elisa. When they finally arrived at Thaddeus's office, Luke was inside with him, standing near the desk as if he had just finished giving a report.
The moment Thaddeus looked up and saw Kayden, his expression softened instantly. He dropped what he was doing, stood, and crossed the room in long strides. Without hesitation, he pulled Kayden into his arms, hugging him tightly. His voice lowered, warm against Kayden's ear.
"How was the exam, sunshine?"
Kayden leaned into him, smiling. "It went fine, Daddy."
