Thaddeus pulled the car to a stop in front of the campus gate. He turned to Kayden, his eyes warm and steady. "Good luck, sunshine," he said softly, brushing his thumb across Kayden's jaw. "But before you go…"
Kayden tilted his head. "Before I go what?"
Thaddeus leaned in, lips curving. "A kiss. I can't send you off without my blessing and a kiss for luck."
Kayden's cheeks warmed, but he smiled and leaned forward. Their lips met in a gentle, lingering kiss, just enough to send Kayden's heart racing. When Thaddeus pulled back, he whispered, "You'll do amazing today. Remember, I'm proud of you already."
"Thank you, Daddy," Kayden said softly, slipping out of the car.
