Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: No More Waves

At Wuqing Peak…

Lin Qingling, the peak master, suddenly opened her eyes.

A flash of astonishment crossed her face.

Had someone… actually succeeded in cultivating the Supreme Forgetting Love Technique?

She quickly moved her hand, and a jade slip materialized in her palm. It had been dormant for years, but now it shimmered faintly.

Her voice trembled slightly with excitement.

"The Supreme Forgetting Love Technique… someone has truly entered it. But the light from the jade slip is faint—this person may not be within the sect. Perhaps it's a disciple who went out on a mission?"

She thought for a moment, then summoned her most trusted disciple—Luo Mingyue.

Luo Mingyue was the eldest among her few disciples and a rising star in the younger generation. Because she, too, practiced the Supreme Forgetting Love Technique, she was often ostracized by others in the sect. Wuqing Peak had few members—only four in total—but Luo Mingyue was the most composed and reliable.

Lin Qingling handed her the glowing jade slip.

"Mingyue," she said seriously, "this is the induction slip of the Supreme Forgetting Love Technique. Someone has finally entered the technique—it's a historic moment. But I'm in the middle of refining pills and can't leave. I'm entrusting you with finding this person. The closer the jade slip is to them, the brighter it will shine. Search carefully. Once you find them, you'll gain a new junior sister—or brother."

A rare note of warmth entered her voice.

It had been a thousand years.

Finally, the Supreme Forgetting Love Technique had a successor. Finally, the Sword Sect's true strength might resurface.

"Yes, Master," Luo Mingyue answered solemnly, accepting the task.

She retreated respectfully, holding the jade slip in both hands.

A joyful smile appeared on her lips.

This had been her master's wish for so long—to see someone truly enter the Supreme Forgetting Love Technique. Now that it had happened, she was determined to find them quickly.

No matter if it was a junior brother or sister, they were destined to be extraordinary.

A few days later…

Li Shuang stood before the gates of the Sword Sect.

Her eyes were calm.

She had returned.

After her descent from the snowy mountain, she'd relied on her heightened perception to avoid the lingering snow monsters and bitter winds. Her control had improved significantly since learning the Supreme Forgetting Love Technique.

She hadn't planned to return.

After all, her master had declared she was no longer his disciple.

But the technique she now practiced was a legacy of the Sword Sect. Since she had mastered it, it was only proper to report it to the sect leader.

She had no intention of returning to Lingxu Peak or facing those people again.

She would head straight to the sect master's mountain.

But as she passed the Sutra Library, a familiar voice caught her attention.

"Zhao Zhao, you're still lacking a good sword technique. Let's take a look inside. I've got some merit points saved up—I'll give them to you," said Second Brother Sheng Yuan gently.

The youngest sister had fought off so many snow monsters and was gravely injured. He felt he owed her something.

"Thank you, Second Brother," came Ye Zhaozhao's sweet voice. "Master also gave me some merit points. With your help, I might be able to get a top-tier sword technique."

"What's mine is yours," Sheng Yuan chuckled.

Zhao Zhao blushed, replying softly.

Li Shuang paused.

She had no interest in encountering the people of Lingxu Peak—but fate seemed to have brought them face-to-face.

She turned, hoping to avoid them.

But then—

"Senior Sister! You're back?" Ye Zhaozhao exclaimed in surprise.

Sheng Yuan looked up and frowned.

"Senior Sister, since you've returned, why haven't you come to Lingxu Peak to apologize? You still owe Junior Sister an apology!"

Li Shuang showed no reaction. She turned to walk away.

Sheng Yuan, angered by her silence, suddenly drew his sword and slashed at her.

She barely dodged. Her current cultivation was too low. Even though the strike wasn't full-force, it still left a long, bleeding wound on her side.

Sheng Yuan froze, horrified.

He hadn't used even a tenth of his strength. Why couldn't she block it?

He didn't mean to injure her—he only wanted her to apologize to Zhao Zhao.

"Senior Sister, why didn't you dodge?" Ye Zhaozhao asked, her eyes wide with concern. Then she added softly, "Oh no… you did that on purpose, didn't you? Now Second Brother will be punished…"

The moment she said it, Sheng Yuan's gaze turned cold.

So that was her game?

She wanted to trap him—to make it look like he'd attacked her in the sect?

She had abandoned them on the mountain, and now she was playing these tricks?

"Senior Sister, are you trying to make me take the blame again?" Sheng Yuan growled. "You already abandoned us to the snow monsters, and now this?!"

Li Shuang pressed her hand against her wound to stop the bleeding, then looked up at him.

This was the boy she'd raised as her own little brother.

When he was only seven or eight, new to the sect and afraid to sleep, she would read him folk stories every night until he drifted off.

When he was too young to cultivate, he got sick often.

She had brewed his medicine by hand and cared for him day and night until he recovered.

Even the sword he held now—the Shenshui Sword—had been forged by her. She had searched for rare metals and reforged it repeatedly to make it powerful.

And now—

He had turned that sword on her without hesitation.

Once, this would've shattered her.

But now...

She simply felt nothing.

The Supreme Forgetting Love Technique suppressed all attachment.

She stared at Sheng Yuan with cold indifference.

He faltered.

That wasn't right.

Her eyes… used to be gentle. Warm.

Now, they were empty. Distant.

What had changed?

Sheng Yuan clenched his jaw. "Senior Sister, apologize to Zhao Zhao right now! If you don't, I'll report you to the Law Enforcement Hall for what happened on the mountain!"
