“What about him?”
“I thought that royals of the petty kingdoms being uncivilized was a thing of the past, but why is he like that?”
“He’s the only one like that. In fact, he is proud of their past, back when they were savages. He’s the definition of being in retrograde.”
“I see, then that might be a bit unfortunate.”
“What is?”
“With him acting like that… we’re bound to be glared at even if we go to the central politics with him as an ally. There aren’t many people in the empire that dislike citizens of the petty kingdoms just because they’re uncivilized, but if the next king is someone like him, then…”
What was fortunate was that the king, his wife, and the princess were comparably gentle. Of course, their choice of words or behavior might seem sensational compared to ordinary nobles or royals, but that much was something that could be overlooked, considering it as remnants of their tradition.
“The king seemed to pay a lot of heed not to look like a savage.”
