POV: Ember
The ground beneath my feet cracked like an earthquake as Hope screamed.
"Mama, make it stop!" she cried, her small hands glowing so bright I had to squint.
Hunter was floating three feet off the floor, his healing powers spinning around him like a golden tornado. Tommy pressed against the wall, staring at my children like they were monsters.
"Hope, Hunter, you need to calm down," I said, trying to keep my voice steady.
But they couldn't hear me over the magical storm they'd created. Power rolled off them in waves, making the air itself buzz with electricity.
Marcus and his men had fled when the children's abilities exploded. Smart choice. Even I was scared of what my babies were becoming.
"Ember," Dr. Chen's voice crackled through my phone. "What's happening over there? Every supernatural creature in three states can feel that power surge."
"The kids lost control," I said, dodging a lamp that flew across the room by itself.
