POV: Ash
My phone buzzed with a photo that made my heart leaped.
Jake was tied to a chair in what looked like an old warehouse. His face was bruised and there was blood on his shirt. Below the picture was a message: One hour. Come alone or he dies.
"They have him," I said, showing Cade the phone.
Cade's silver eyes blazed with anger. "Where?"
"I don't know. But look at the background." I pointed to a broken window in the photo. "That's the old lumber mill on Highway 9."
"That place has been abandoned for years."
"Perfect place to hide someone." I grabbed my jacket from the chair. "We need to go now."
"Wait." Ember appeared in the doorway with Hope and Hunter behind her. "What's happening?"
I showed her the photo. Her face went pale.
"Oh no. Poor Jake."
"We're going to get him back," Cade promised.
"Both of you?" Ember asked. "What about the wedding? What about keeping the family together?"
"Jake is family too," I said firmly. "He saved your life last night."
