POV: Dr. Chen
Ember's body hit the ground like a falling star, but she was still breathing.
I rushed to her side, my medical bag already open. Her pulse was weak and getting weaker. Dark veins spread across her skin like poisonous spider webs.
"What's happening to her?" Cade demanded, kneeling beside me.
"The spirit is trapped inside her mind, but it's killing her body from the inside," I said, checking her eyes with my small flashlight. "We have maybe ten minutes before her heart stops."
"Then get it out of her!" Ash shouted.
"It's not that simple. This isn't a normal medical problem. I need to perform a spiritual surgery."
I had only read about this procedure in ancient texts. No doctor had attempted it for over a hundred years. But looking at Ember's pale face, I knew it was our only chance.
"What do you need us to do?" Marcus asked, arriving with his pack.
"Everyone form a circle around her. I need every wolf here to share their energy with me."
