My babies were singing, and their voices lit up the darkness in my mind like stars.
I was trapped inside my own head, watching Malphas use my body to threaten the people I loved most. But when Luna and Max started their lullaby, something changed. Their pure love created cracks in the prison walls the ancient spirit had built around my soul.
"Mama loves you, day and night..."
Each word they sang made me stronger. I could feel my heart beating again, could remember what it felt like to hold them when they were tiny.
"You cannot fight me forever," Malphas snarled inside my thoughts. "I have had a thousand years to perfect this magic."
But you've never faced a mother's love, I thought back at him.
"Love is weakness!"
