JONAH POV
~Manchester, united Kingdom~
Elijah was still shouting and growling about losing a mini basketball game, when the door opened a little bit. Kinda like those in horror movies. My dad walked with usual calm and arrogant demeanor, not concerned about that, but the person that walked in beside him. A ghost, a friend, a past I thought would never resurface anymore. A person I would have jumped off the couch to hug and lift up in awe. But I stood still, only barely utter a word, "Lyim."
She titled her head and smiled. "Lyim will be staying here, until she enters the University." My dad spoke out, snapping me out of my daze. A slender, blonde woman walked in, probably in her mid 30s, carrying several luggages. It seemed a lot for her to carry but she moved it in anyway. "Like I was saying," my dad continued. "Lyim will be staying here for a while, me and her dad will be travelling to Nigeria for a business trip. "And when Will You be back?" The words coming out of my mouth forcefully. "Probably, in 2-3 months," he said, like it wasn't a big deal.
I wanted to shout at him, tell him it was stupid to make such decision without informing his two sons. He was an incompitent father, who only care about he's business but this was another level. Then I turned to my side and saw Elijah, I relaxed a bit, It was better he didn't know the ugly side of my family. "Where is ezekiel?" He asked. Not bothering to go up to look for him. "He went out some minutes ago," I replied. "It's fine," he said. Looking at he's watch. "Just tell him when he gets home," he looked at Elijah for a second then looked at me again. "By the way," pointing at the tall blond woman, miss Anna will be staying with You all as a guardian." I scoffed. Loud enough for him to hear. "Do You have anything to say," he said, looking at me for answers. Immediately brushing off my attempt to speak, with a wave of his hand.
Buzz! Buzz! He's phone vibrated. He was about to say something but then stopped. Listen to miss Anna and don't stress her. With that, he opened the door slightly and was gone. I turned to Elijah, who obviously had a lot to say. But he knew it would have to wait. "Lyim, miss Anna," let me show You both to Your rooms." "Don't worry Young master," miss Anna said, bowing slightly. "I paused," I couldn't hide the visible disturbance on my face."Please, don't ever do that again," Not trying to sound rude, "Just Jonah is fine," taken aback. She responded, "Yes mast....." She paused.. "Yes Jonah."
I smiled, not quite reaching my eyes. "See You later then," I turned to Lyim, which still felt weird. "I guess, I don't need to show You either. "She smiled, "no You don't," in a few moment they were gone, I could still hear distant voices from them. "Mind telling me everything now," Elijah asked, he's curious eyes, boring through me. "Well that's the curious, creepy eyes You usually have. I said. "Well, I'd love to tell everything, but You know I'm not intrested in doing that." I added. He hissed. I sighed, well, Lyim is my childhood friend who I haven't seen for a very long time, that's my dad, and life is shit." "Well we all got our problems ehh," he said trying to act matured. I laughed at he's serious impression.
Few hours, had past, before two sharp shilloute came down. Lyim wore a baggy trousers, and a white T-shirt, her hair tyed to a loose end pony tail. Now looking at miss anna again, who wore a similar fit as Lyim probably might have been sweet talked into it by Lyim. She wasn't that bad, she was no longer wearing a grey suit, and glasses. She was probably early 30s, or late 20s, either she wasn't bad, maybe kinda hot. I couldn't fully, since she wore big clothes, I thought to myself. I felt a thug at my elbow, looking at my side, it was Elijah apparently I was staring. "I noticed a little bit of uneasiness from miss anna."
"I'm very sorry," I said. "I was just shocked to see You both wearing similar outfits." "Don't apologise, she said." Turning to Lyim she said. "I don't know how You talked me into this." She protested. Looking at herself. Lyim smiled then looked at me, "So my childhood friend is a perv." I frowned. Elijah laughed loudly catching everyones attention. Lyim turned towards Elijah. I wasn't sure if she had noticed him before. "You're his friend right?" "How is that funny," she asked something confused. "You see," Elijah spoke, still laughing. "I'd never seen him stare at a girl before, atleast I know he's a human. Miss anna blushed a little bit. "I'm not a perv." I spoke out.
"Well, since it's not that late, why don't You shows us around Manchester." Lyim asked. Her face close to mine. I moved back a little, gaining some distance. "Well, I was going to escort Elijah home," "nahh, I can go home by myself," Elijah cut in. "Well he can come along," Lyim said, looking at Elijah. Elijah flinched. "Yh, I guess so. "Then it's settled," Lyim shouted. Miss anna nodded, apparently she had no show issue with Lyim suggestion.
We walked down the lit streets of Manchester, Lyim walked closed to me, but it still felt weird, I had so many things to say to her but I'd rather not, atleast not in public. We went to the Grizzly corner where I worked. "How are You doing runt," Mr. Martin called out, from a far end corner. "You finally started having friends huh," I frowned, "You don't tease guests, You old coot." "And You don't insults the owner of shop," he shot back. "Heyy Mr. Martin," Elijah greeted. "Ohh hey kid, when did You start getting mixed up with this runt." Elijah simply smiled and said nothing. "Fine, I'll stop bursting Your balls," The old man said, clearing his throat, The food will be ready soon, as he headed towards the kitchen.
"But I didn't...." "Order" it was too late, the old man was already gone. "You seems pretty familiar with him." Lyim asked, "well he's kinda our boss," Elijah said, grinning awkardly. "Elijah,!" I shouted, slapping the side of my face. Reading the room, Elijah understood."sorry" he said. But the deed had already been done. "You work!" Lyim shouted. Miss Anna remained silent.I didn't say a word, but look at her. She shouted again. Then I spoke, "I don't think I owe You an explaination or whatsoever. "How dare You," she said, slamming her fist on desk. People started looking.
"Why are You working in a restuarant Jonah Olumide Williams," she asked again, clearly pissed. "I couldn't careless, The angered which I supressed could no longer be contained. "Why the hell, would I gave a shit about what You think." "Why should I even be nice to a bitch like You." I shouted. "You come back after many years, and suddenly think You got the right to ask a damn thing about me." She froze, tears gathered in her eyes, and then, she bolted towards the door and ran. The door slammed heavy, "Was it a little bit too much," I wondered to myself. Maybe I might have lost my cool. Still pondering my actions, miss Anna got up from her seat. "Miss Anna I can...," my word cut short with a slap on my face.
