c96: Thinking During Battle! Common Problem
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Massive waves surged on the surface of the sea, rising dozens of meters high!
Amidst the chaotic torrents, a figure moved with incredible speed, each movement punctuated by flashes of divine red light. A crimson blur rocketed across the ocean surface, it was Luya, transformed into Super Saiyan God!
"Ha!" Luya launched a flurry of strikes toward Whis. However, the angel easily sidestepped each one, his expression calm and effortless. Luya, despite his strength, couldn't land a single blow.
Tatatata!
Luya had already pushed his body to the limit. Instant Transmission, reactive flares, and high-speed combat techniques all were deployed. Yet none of them could catch Whis off guard. The angel's movements were fluid and predictive, like a fish gliding through water. Even when Luya tried to adapt, adding explosive acceleration with his innate battle talent, Whis would simply adjust the angle or rhythm of his dodges, rendering Luya's countermeasures ineffective.
Whoosh!
Whis casually evaded Luya's punch and floated upward, lightly tapping the air beneath his feet.
Luya instantly reappeared behind him.
Whoosh!
In that moment, Luya activated Flash Time Shift, compressing the space around Whis into a temporal cage!
Flash Time Shift—0.7 seconds!
"Ha!" Luya struck out from behind, aiming for a surprise hit using time manipulation.
But Whis smiled, completely unfazed. As an angel with mastery over time and space far beyond the likes of Hit's Time-Skip, Luya's temporal tricks were little more than party tricks in comparison. Even Hit's 0.5-second Time-Skip was useless against Whis Luya's was barely on par.
Clack!
Whis caught the punch effortlessly, without even shifting his stance.
Sweat trickled down Luya's temple. The gap was staggering. Despite the growth he'd achieved through training and divine transformation, facing Whis felt like trying to punch a mountain with bare hands. Whis wasn't even using a fraction of his strength, while Luya was nearly burnt out. It wasn't just frustrating—it was humiliating.
"Hold it. Stop for a moment," Whis suddenly said.
Luya instinctively paused. "What's wrong?"
Whis, always gracious in instruction, offered his assessment: "You've attained the form of Super Saiyan God, but you're still clinging to mortal instincts. You haven't yet tapped into the divine essence flowing within that transformation."
Luya narrowed his eyes. "The divine essence?"
Whis nodded. "Indeed. The Super Saiyan God form is not just about power, it's a state of godhood achieved through ritual and purity of energy. But the fatal flaw you share with Goku and Vegeta is your reliance on mortal battle instincts. You hesitate. You think before moving. That delay, even if it's a fraction of a second, is fatal at higher levels. Among mortals, it's fast. Against divine beings? You might as well not move at all."
Luya stood silently, his brows furrowed. Whis was referring to Ultra Instinct, the ultimate state where the body moves without conscious thought. But for Luya, fighting without thinking wasn't natural. He needed to analyze, adapt, and plan. That was his nature even Goku still relied on instincts rather than pure detachment. Without total mastery, it wasn't just difficult, it was impossible.
"But even so," Whis continued with a smile, "you possess greater potential than Goku. Your drawback, however, is overthinking. In battle, that hesitation holds you back."
Luya gave a sheepish smile. It was true Goku's carefree nature let him flow with battle, focusing entirely on the moment. Luya, in contrast, had acquired his power through system-based progression, not through a warrior's journey. He had divine strength, yes, but his control was lacking. His power hadn't yet become instinctive, rooted deep in muscle memory the way it was for Goku or Vegeta. Even though he knew the theory behind Super Saiyan Blue and Ultra Instinct, he hadn't internalized them.
In short: he was strong, but not proficient.
"Also," Whis added, "though you wield the Super Saiyan God form, you're still holding back its full capabilities. You'll need much more refinement to reach the next threshold."
Luya bowed slightly and said, "Then I'll rely on your guidance, Mr. Whis."
"Hmm…" Whis tilted his head teasingly.
Luya immediately understood. "I've got enough spicy snacks."
Whis smiled joyfully. "In that case, I'll be happy to continue."
Luya chuckled inwardly. Even with a power system, even with divine energy, he still felt like a beginner in the presence of an angel. He couldn't let that potential go to waste he had to grow, steadily and patiently.

The Future
BOOM!
A skyscraper exploded in a brilliant blaze, its structure crumbling into debris.
Hovering over the ruins, Goku Black clad in his ominous dark gi, surrounded by a pink, divine aura descended with calm arrogance, surveying the destruction below.
"Impossible... even Uncle Goku...!" Trunks murmured, stunned. Goku Black in his Super Saiyan Rosé form was overpowering Goku's Super Saiyan Blue!
"Damn… Damn it…" Vegeta, still weak from the earlier battle, opened his eyes with effort.
"Dad!" Trunks knelt beside him.
"That idiot Kakarot… he forgot the Senzu Beans! I told him—!" Vegeta grunted, still furious despite his condition. After being stabbed by Goku Black's energy blade, his Super Saiyan Blue had collapsed, and now he couldn't even stand.
BOOM!
From the debris, Goku emerged, surrounded by the fierce glow of Super Saiyan Blue. His expression was tense.
He faced Goku Black, voice low: "You're strong..."
Goku Black grinned. "Struggle all you like. This body, stolen from your timeline, has reached a divinity you can't begin to comprehend. I've become perfect. Invincible!"
"Invincible? Heh… I've been training my whole life and wouldn't dare say that," Goku replied, wiping blood from the corner of his mouth. "You're strong, sure, but man, you're full of yourself."
"Hmph. Mortals like you have no concept of divine greatness!" Goku Black's voice was laced with contempt. "You were given divine power by luck. You're still just low-born Saiyans primitive, savage apes playing god. You should have been extinct long ago!"
His hatred burned through every word. Goku Black once the Kai Zamasu despised mortals. To him, they were insects corrupting the order of the cosmos. This fusion of god and Saiyan body was his solution: divine justice by extermination.
Goku took his stance. "Then let's see if you've got what it takes. I won't make this easy for you."
"You pest! Die like the rest!" Black roared, concentrating his energy into a glowing, elegant pink Ki Blade.
With a flash, he charged at Goku aiming for the kill.
