The Syntronic staff shifted uneasily in their seats. Whispers flew back and forth as the CFO quickly scribbled notes. The legal advisor leaned in, urgently whispering into the CEO's ear. It was clear that this was not the easy victory Syntronic had expected.
The CEO's anger cooled, replaced by calculation. He eyed the website on the screen, recognizing the threat to his company's monopoly. "You want two hundred million," he said finally, voice strained.
George nodded. "That's the value of the work we've done, and the lost profits our company would have made. You can pay us and secure your exclusive rights, or take your chances with the public learning every detail of your patented product."
The Syntronic team huddled together, voices low and urgent. Numbers were exchanged, arguments whispered. At first, they offered one hundred million, but George, standing firm, refused. After more tense discussion and a hard glare from Syntronic's CFO, the CEO finally relented.
