Elena felt good walking by herself in the evening without any worries. She walked in the direction of the garden present in the middle of the estate. Even though every mansion had a backyard of their own, people found it boring to be by themselves in their private backyards. Thus, they came here to mingle with others.
Some walked their dogs, some sat on benches and chatted about life or business. Sometimes old men played chess while their wives drank tea nearby. The kids ran around with their nannies, their laughter mixing with the rustling leaves and soft splash of a fountain.
As Elena walked towards the garden, her eyes caught the sight of a puppy sitting in the middle of the road. Her eyes widened in fear when she saw a car driving straight in the direction of the puppy and a little girl also walking towards the puppy.
The man driving the car was immersed in a conversation with his wife and didn't notice either the puppy or the little girl who were in the middle of the road.
