Elena could clearly hear the moaning sounds coming from the room. Maybe, Vanessa knew that Elena would definitely come so she moaned even louder.
"Evan, you're so fierce!"
"Evan, you're the best!"
Tears fell vigorously from Elena's eyes. How could they? How could they betray her? She had given her everything to them. Where did she go wrong? Just because she couldn't conceive, did she deserve all this? Elena sobbed harder at the door of her room.
"You b*tch, do you want to disturb my brother and future sister-in-law?" Brianna pulled Elena and dragged her away. Elena was dragged down the stairs by Brianna in a very crude way. Her elbows and knees got scratched along the way. However, she didn't resist. She was in too much of shock and despair to resist anyone.
Brianna and Katherine felt exhilarated seeing Elena in such state. They had always wanted to bring Elena down. Even though Elena always treated them well and never acted arrogantly, they felt that she looked down on them because of her family. Also, Elena's beauty had always irked them as they weren't considered beautiful. They were jealous of the fact that Elena could look beautiful even in her simplest form while they couldn't match her even after applying makeup and dolling themselves up.
Elena lay on the ground weakly. She had no more strength left. Tears kept surging out of her eyes but her mouth didn't make a single sound. She was broken. Utterly broken.
Soon, Evan and Vanessa came out of the room. When they saw Elena lying down on the floor, a sense of disgust arose in them. Vanessa also felt great accomplishment when she saw the proud heiress in this state. However, was she satisfied? No, right?
"My dear Evan, can I talk to her? After all, she should know everything before her end, right?"
Evan nodded and a vicious smile appeared on his face.
Vanessa walked towards Elena haughtily and took a chair before sitting down on it. She felt great sitting in a higher position than Elena as Elena was still laying on the ground.
Elena looked at Vanessa with indignant eyes.
"Awwww, come on, don't look at me like that, I'm not the only one who did this to you, right?"
That was right. Vanessa was not the only one who had done this to her, who had brought her suffering and the feeling of betrayal. The man she loved was equally involved in this.
Elena asked herself, 'What did I do to deserve this kind of punishment? What did I do to them for them to betray me like this?'
She had treated Vanessa as her real sister. Even when she had asked her to hand over the Ashford group to Evan, she had not doubted her one bit. This was the level of trust she had in her best friend.
Evan Cross was her first love. She had loved him so much that she had given him everything. Fame, riches and everything he had asked for. She had given him without any hesitation.
Why? Why? Why did they do this to her? She had loved them both very much, and they were the ones that she cared for in this cruel world.
"Why?" Elena asked.
"Why, you ask? Heh! The reason is simple, my dear, to take everything you have away from you. You don't deserve it! You don't deserve anything at all. You're a hen who cannot even lay eggs. How are you deserving of such a good life? What you had should have been mine from the beginning."
Evan walked towards Elena and crouched down before holding her chin, forcing her to face him eye to eye, "Elena, what does it feel like to lose everything you have now? Hmm?"
'It hurt. It truly hurt! Everything that both of you did to me is painful to bear,' Elena wanted to say, but she choked and her voice couldn't come out.
"Well, what you feel right now doesn't satisfy me, and to make myself satisfied, I want you DEAD." A vicious look appeared on Evan's face as he uttered these words.
Elena couldn't believe it. A man who was so gentle, how could he turn out to be so vicious? What did he mean by wanting her dead? Elena's mind turned blank.
However, she was brought to her senses by Vanessa's next words.
"Oh yeah, do you remember the car accident that your mom was in?" Elena abruptly turned her gaze when she heard Vanessa mentioning her mother. "It was not an ordinary car accident."
Elena saw the evil grin on Vanessa's face and a thought suddenly hit her, "It was you!"
Her words were not a question but she was sure of it when she saw Vanessa's face.
