Chapter 149 - The Hunters Arc: Two

Faye threaded into Woods searching for Sous. Even though they weren't on the best of terms, she still cared for her. She also wanted to maybe talk to her. Put some sense into her.

She threaded through Fornik then went toward the forest once she crossed the bridge. She saw the centaurs just around a bend in the forest and eventually came to a stop. She saw the clothes in a pile and a make shift raft but no Sous.

When looking at the water, she saw the stream was taking it upward, meaning the flow would lead exactly to the towns up north which included the location Faye, herself, was from: Cadjins.

Knowing the coordinates of the location she was heading, she teleported to the embankment of the river just off from the swamps. She saw footprints in the mud and began to call out to Sous.

"SOUS! SOUS!" Being all the way in Cadjins meant Sous traveled about seven hours up the stream, covering more than three hundred miles. Faye realized her friend probably didn't have her wand and even if Sous could teleport, she was rather new at it, so probably wouldn't be able to get too far. "SOUS, SOUS!"

Faye continued her way into the marshes even when she began to come in to encounters with the shadow people. Something that wasn't unusual around the swamps, it was an easy place for them to reside even if along side others.

They weren't harmful unless employed by a witch doctor and there was a surplus of them.

"SOUS! SOUS!"

"Madame, please stop that yelling, I am trying to read," said a witch doctor wearing a suit and a top hat. He appeared from the brush and walked to Faye, seeing her as a Cadjin spoke to her in Ench.

When Faye inquired about a girl with blonde hair, blue eyes, tall, muscular, an Alpha, the witch doctor laughed, stating him and his shadow people scared her away. That he had offered Sous a contract for her soul and her freedom.

The man looked at Faye, knowing she had a contract with the underworld which allowed her to raise the dead. He was aware of Faye and her family and just how powerful they were in the bayous. Still, he refused to give Faye any more tips about Sous unless she paid, so she continued to thread deeper into the swamps.

Kara still hadn't heard from Sous and Jacob still hadn't heard from Derrick. Derrick paced about the living room while Kara was on the couch watching television. He looked at his cell phone. He had sent numerous text and calls to Jacob and nothing.

"When was the last time you saw him?" Kara asked.

"The night he went to Sous' place...that was it."

"So you didn't go with him?" She asked.

Derrick shook his head. He placed his cell phone down and rubbed his stomach. In three months he would be giving birth. The last thing he wanted was for him to be without Jacob and for the baby to be without a father.

The Omega boy sat down on the couch next to his sister. "I don't know what to do."

Kara didn't know either but she did know that their sire would find an Alpha for Derrick to mate and marry if Jacob did not show back up in the picture.

Derrick quickly turned to Kara. "Wait, you know where Sous lives?"

Kara nodded her head.

"Can you go and check on the shack, just to see if you can find any clues," Derrick pondered. He looked at his sister with pleading eyes and she gave in, and sighed.

Later that afternoon, she placed her shoes on and coat jacket. One thing she loved about Canas was the weather. It got chilly and cold but it didn't snow. The weather was much more forgiving than the weather in Faelock.

She stepped out into the day and walked toward the tracks with her hands in her pockets. First, she was going to stop by the city hall and wish Zhiliary well on her trip to Roujin. Since the situation with Sous, Kara was putting more and more time getting to know and interact with Zhiliary. Besides for the age difference, Kara was starting to warm up to the Alpha. So much so that during her heats, she was starting to think of the Alpha in more intimate encounters, something she had only kept for Sous.

"Maybe sixteen isn't so bad," Kara thought to herself. "But I won't be dropping out, I still gotta get stronger."

"Who are you talking to?" Zhiliary laughed while coming down the stairs. Her large duffle bag was packed and she was wearing her elite attire. She walked to the Omega and gave her a hug, happy the two were on much better terms now that Sous was out of the picture.

Sous didn't even know what a shadow person was. She never seen one or them until she had met that witch doctor.

She walked to a fallen branch and sat down, her stomach roared, she was sweating, mosquitoes and other insects flew around her causing an annoying buzzing around her ears.

It was for the best. She wanted to get away from the Hunters but not at the risk of losing her soul and signing a contract.

"SOUS! SOUS!"

Sous stood up and saw a figure threading toward her within the fog. Faye landed next to her, smiling. Sous reached out and hugged the priestess, her eyes watering and so excited to see her.

She pulled back from her friend who wiped her tears. "Sous..." Faye said, her voice soft and non aggressive. She was here to help. "What are you doing?"

"Faye, I'm so sorry!" She pleaded, snot running down her nose. She wiped it away, apologizing for everything, the way she treated Makala, the stabbing of Faye- her best friend, and the killing of Randali. "It was an accident, Faye."

Faye understood and she nodded her head. She took Sous' hands in her own, the eyes of the shadow people watched them.

"You have to turn yourself in, Sous."

Sous backed away from Faye. "I don't want to go to jail. It was an accident!"

"Sous, the longer you run, the more time you'll get when they catch you. And they will catch you."

Sous shook her head, not wanting to listen to her best friend. Faye stepped to Sous and grabbed both sides of the blonde's face. "I forgive you...what you did to me...I forgive you."

"What about Randali?"

Faye shook her head. "You will have to speak with a medium to reach Randali's soul and ask for her forgiveness."

Sous buried her head into Faye's neck, hugging her best friend. Never wanting to let go.

The Hunters were quick when soaring through the air searching for the suspect. They had looked about the entire campus grounds, about twenty of them. They had a profile on Sous' magae but she was different because she was mixed with so many things, it was hard to narrow down her specific magae.

One moment, they would think they had her and the next, its a student mixed with pixie and fairy.

They soared and searched through the town of Fornik, they searched the forest around Fornik. They were going to need to cover more land because it would appear to them that Sous was quicker than they thought.

They soared up and down the river stream, stopping at this town or that village. Usually when someone committed a crime, it was easy for them to catch them. Sous was turning to out to be rather difficult.
