The next morning, Doureena walked toward the city hall and entered into her office. She looked at the clock on the mound, waiting for her small meeting with the two new elites that would be joining her ranks. Of course, both were promoted from assassins and have deemed themselves fit and worthy to stand along side the Alpha.
She sat down in her chair and pulled up financial documents, read emails, and letters, and most importantly, sent a message to Riley who was still in Faelock with soldiers and told her to stand down.
The time had come and Doureena stepped outside of her office and saw the two new recruits, two male Alphas.
"Come in, come in," she said to them. She gestured for them to take a seat in which they did.
Doureena sat on the edge of her desk and took the time to formally introduce herself, even if they already knew she was the Alpha of the pack.
Their names was Curtis and Lucio. They spoke a little about themselves, a way to build up rapport, and then Doureena looked to the clock again and back to the new elites.
"Please follow me." The Alpha took them outside the city hall and walked them to the sparring arena where the seventy-five wolves still wore. They were forbidden from going home or even seeing their families.
The Alpha stood outside the door that was bolted lock. She undid the bolt and the chain. She sniffed and turned to look at Curtis and Lucio.
"Your first mission," Doureena started. "Kill every single one of them." She held the door open, the sound of the opening caused the wolves who were still in their blankets to look up including Deacon and Paya.
She held the door open for the new Alphas and they walked through without saying a word. She closed the door behind them and with her back to the wall, she began to listen for the killing to start. And soon enough, it came.
The screams, the cries for help. They even ran to the door to try and pull it open, but they were stuck.
The blood spilled out from under the door and Doureena had to step away so as to not get her dress shoes dirty.
She smirked. "Wolves that can't even transform...get rid of them." She walked over to a bench within the shade in the warm cool air and sat down, waiting for the new recruits to finish.
Sous walked behind Artreus to the hospital wing where her mother was. They stood in the hallway waiting to get permission from the doctor to be able to see her.
Sous was anxious, her body shaking and jittery all over. It had been years since she had seen her mother. What would she say? She would cry of course; she was already starting to cry.
Artreus tapped Sous on the shoulder and the two walked into the room. Elevyn was awake and sitting up, she was in good condition, clean and fresh. Although Sous didn't know what she looked like prior, she was pleased by what she saw before her.
"My little baby," Elevyn said, reaching out to hold her oldest.
Sous fell into her mother's arms, balling her eyes out, making the gown Elevyn was wearing wet with her tears. Elevyn cried too, she patted Sous' head and didn't say anything. She was just so happy to have her little star back.
Elevyn pulled at Sous' face. "Look at you! You're so big! How tall are you?"
"Six feet."
"Oh my goodness, my little baby, is growing up. You have your little antennas." Elevyn flicked Sous' antennas, both of them laughing and crying at the same time at how silly it was.
They blew their noses and Sous sat on the edge of the bed, holding her mother's hands, never wanting to let go again. Afraid that she would lose her.
Elevyn wiped the tears from Sous' face, felt her neck and saw the seals, felt her muscles. She was an Alpha that was for sure.
"How is school?" She asked.
"I go to Hacate," Sous answered.
Elevyn nodded her head, her thoughts going to Puimo who was a Hacate student in his past. She ran her thumb over Sous' cheek.
"Where is your father? Where is Puimo?"
Sous kept her back to her mother and Atreus, staring out the window where the view was lackluster. The hospital set upon trees so there was nothing to see but trees.
Elevyn cried in her hands hearing what happened to her husband from the words of his own father. Sous couldn't bare to look and she herself were also shedding tears she thought had long been shed.
She walked back to her mother and got on the bed, holding her in her arms. It was like it was Sous' turn to be that rock for her mother.
After some time, Elevyn had fallen asleep. Sous got up and laid her mother gently on the bed and walked over to Artreus. She noticed the flowers and cards left by Elevyn's side by family members of Artreus. They were treating her like their own flesh and blood as was expected.
A nurse poked her head in, her wings thinner than average. She had a food tray for the mother. It consisted of a cup of blood, vegetables, and protein. A perfect diet for one mixed with vampire, human, and witch.
The nurse set the tray down and looked at the machinery that was connected to Elevyn to make sure all was well with her.
Sous found herself outside walking the wooden bridges that went from tree to tree. Her hands were in her coat pockets. Her stomach was growling and she'd figured she go by a shop to get something to eat, but as she thought of that, she remembered Kara was here in Faelock.
She was about to go jump off into the trees until she was pulled by her coat collar.
"No ma'am, where are you going?" Monica said.
A sweat drop overcame Sous and she turned to look at the Omega. "I was just gonna see Kara."
"FOR WHAT!?"
Sous threw up her hands defensively. "I-I was just going to say hi."
Monica looked the Alpha up and down and sniffed her, trying to smell if the Alpha was on rut. Now that Sous was older and visibly matured, she was weary with having them be together. Alphas sometimes had problems with controlling their urges. At least, that was the excuse the wolf community took.
Monica let go of Sous' collar. "Don't touch her, Sous."
Every since Sous began to mature, she was starting to get scolded for things she hadn't even done.
"Listen, I know, I know but I won't touch her like that, okay." She was transparent. "I'm not ready to mate and I haven't even had my first rut yet. I don't even know how to mate. Besides for what Randali tells me about what will happen down stairs, I don't know. But I do know...I won't do anything to her, I promise." She finished off to Monica.
That night, Sous stayed in the hospital with her mother. Her mother had eaten her food and gotten her rest, and she spent the hours telling Sous about Puimo. Elevyn then leaned over to her dresser that had the flowers and such and pulled out a photo. She handed it to Sous.
In the photo was a nine year old Sous, Puimo, Elevyn, and in Elevyn's arms was...
"Sasu..." Sous whispered. "Where is he?"
Elevyn didn't bother to hold back tears. "He was killed by an assassin. I remember exactly what she looked like. Young, silver hair she wore in two braids that went down her back-"
Sous' became wide...her brother...he was killed by Zhiliary.
