Chapter 120 - The Grim Arc: One

Faye woke up the next morning to the smell of a diverse breakfast. She could smell the eggs, the bacon, the pancakes all the way up from Makala's room.

After she washed up and changed her clothes, she walked down the stairs in the dark, making her way to the kitchen.

She laughed stepping inside at seeing the food on the table. "What is this?"

Makala turned around. She was completely covered in flour, milk, and eggs. She had spilt over olive oil and orange juice. She seemed exhausted but content.

Faye sat at the table ready to dig in. "Wait, this is for me, right? I don't want to assume."

"Yes, its for you!" Makala slammed herself down at the kitchen table in the wooden chair. "I was up all night while you were sleeping trying to watch tutorials on how to cook a human breakfast." Faye found herself laughing once more with a face full of pancakes and syrup.

"When did you go shopping?"

"Last night."

"I didn't hear you leave."

"That's because you were passed out," Makala grinned. Faye was tired when she had teleported over here. Depending on how far a location was, depends on the amount of magic that is needed. Conaska being so far took a lot out of Faye plus the kiss-

Faye blushed. She continued to eat, now and then making glances at Makala. The vampire was also blushing, thinking of last night.

Once Faye was done eating breakfast, Makala took the plates and placed them in the sink. She turned around and leaned on the counter. "So..."

Faye stood up and walked over to Makala and took her by the waist.

"You're going to the church?" Faye nodded her head. That was the plan especially upon learning vampires were crossing over trying to take blood from the humans. "Are we gonna talk about last night?"

"Can we...talk about last night tonight?" Faye said. Truthfully she didn't want to dive deep into their relationship and what exactly this means. She liked Makala and didn't regret kissing her but to make things official still felt...rushed.

Faye was bundled up in snow clothes outside in the day. She wanted to get to the church on the outskirts prior to sundown. Going during the day would allow her to interact with the humans and see what they were saying.

She saw the church in the distance, also saw there were a few members who were tending to the church's garden.

Faye walked down the slope and the hill that led downward and walked to the caretaker.

"Hi, are you the caretaker?"

The caretaker looked up and saw Faye. He gasped when he saw her one silver eye. "You're a priestess." He was an old man and walked with a slight hump toward the church.

Unsure of whether to follow him, she did. He led her to through the cemetery that stood at the back of the church. He stopped walking and seemed to be wanting to show her something.

"Do you mind blessing our water to make it holy?" The man asked.

"I don't mind."

He smiled at her, some of his teeth missing due to age. "I love your accent. The accent of the bayous have so much soul."

"Merci," she replied.

The old man pointed toward the ground where there was an outline of ash and a stake sticking out from the ground.

Faye squated down next to it and knew it belonged to a vampire. Her silver eye flashed, searching around for the spirit. She found him, standing a top of the church's roof.

"He haunts these ground. If you could bless this water and rid his spirit, vampires should be deterred from coming here."

Faye clapped her hands once and took out her needles. She threw it at the vampire only for him to dodge it. The needle soared back to her.

"Hmm, he doesn't wanna cross over."

"That's because he already knows he's going to hell." Faye ignored the old man, and allowed him to walk away from her back to his job with tending to the gardens.

She walked to the fountain that contained the water. She bowed her head and placed her hands together to pray.

CHING!

Faye took out her needle and blocked the stick that was thrown at her. She didn't have to look up to know it was a vampire using a cloaking spell that threw it.

She finished up blessing the water and turned to the vampire. She went on ahead and used her index finger to pull her glasses up. Within that time, the vampire on the other side took out a shot gun and aimed at her.

CLING!

She blocked it with her needle. She threaded toward the vampire only for him to dispersed into a dozen bats. She threaded after him, even after he changed back into his normal form and shot at her again.

Faye threw her needle at the shot gun, tipping it, having it fall from his hands. Before the shot hit the ground, he pulled out a revolver and shot at her. She flicked it away, hearing it land against a tombstone.

She threw both of her threads at the vampire and used the thread to slide to him. Once she got to his face, she kicked him in the mouth.

The vampire fell to the ground but quickly got up. Faye struck down her needles, too slow. She was quick enough to jab at him and cut his sleeve on his right shoulder.

Her silver eye flashed and she turned around to face the holy water fountain. Another vampire was there, trying to take the holy water bowl.

"What the-" Faye threw the needle at the other vampire, stabbing her in the wrist. She screamed out. Faye threaded over to the girl and was honestly about to kill her but was uncertain. This was a different country and unlike the situation on the train, were they biting and draining humans or were they biting and then leaving the humans to live?

She was confused now and unsure of what to do.

"Well, are you gonna take it out or what?" The vampire yelled at her.

Faye looked at the girl and said, "No."

She threaded over to the first vampire but he burst into bats once more and flew away from her, flew away from the church entirely.

Since he was headed back toward the vampire section of Grim, she decided to not chase him. She walked to the girl and took the needle out from her hand. Her black blood spilled out in thick increments.

"What are you doing?"

The vampire girl covered her wound and snarled at the priestess. "Nothing," she said. She was going to take off and burst into bats but Faye pressed her needle down into the ground, creating an electric shock that stunned the girl.

She fell to the ground, glaring at Faye. "Let me ask again, what are you doing?"

"I was going to take the holy water and pour it out. It hadn't taken affect yet."

Faye tilted her head at the girl. "And how do you know that information?"

"Duh, we've been doing this for a while now."

Faye allowed the vampire to go and looked out over the horizon. The vampire girl was right. The blessed hadn't taken affect. It usually takes about an hour for every ounce of water to be blessed.

She walked to the fountain and stood guard. She sighed. She would have to do this at each sight and she still hadn't crossed that vampire spirit over yet.
