Sous found herself waking up in tears during the night. She found herself experiencing this more and more often and she didn't understand why. She knew it had something to do with her parents, her father's spirit giving her power. It made her soul and heart hurt. It made her ache for them. She missed her parents so much and even when she found herself surrounded by friends and her new family, she found herself alone.
She stepped out of bed and wiped the sweat off her brow. She wiped her tears away and stood up.
In the tavern her, Shadow, Jason, and the tiger were staying at, there was a garden. Sous walked down the stairs and past the check in point. When she got outside, she saw the large tiger sleeping soundly. She only awoke when she smelt Sous.
Sous nodded her head at the four legged striped animal as she continued to walk to the garden.
It was a labyrinth and in the center, there was a bench with wonderful and colorful flowers. For that moment, she could be at peace.
There was a smell though, it was strong. The smell of an Omega. Sous looked up and saw a girl about her age, maybe an year younger. She was slim with long blonde hair and green eyes. Over her shoulders was a dark brown blanket to keep her warm by trapping in heat.
Sous stood up and bowed her head at the young girl.
"I smelt you," she said.
Sous remained standing, she had nothing to add.
"Do you have an Omega?" The girl asked. She walked over to Sous. Sous shook her head. "I am to mate soon."
"You seem so young." Sous finally spoke.
"In my pack, we mate young." She sat down on the bench and Sous sat down next to her. "I am lucky, my Alpha is two years older than me. I know some Omegas who marry ones who are much older." She played with the blanket around her body. "You're handsome. Your Omega will be happy with you."
The two girls became quiet. They listened to the light breeze.
Whooo ooooo! The breeze went.
It felt good on their bodies and their hair. Sous enjoyed looking at the Omega. She was beautiful yet it made her think of Kara and Tany.
The older Sous got, the more she was becoming interested in the two girls.
"Are you from here?"
The Omega nodded her head. "Just outside of Antonia. We are on vacation now."
"Tell me about what happened to the wolves in Antonia."
The girl smirked, liking the commandment of Sous, the Alpha's assertiveness.
"There was a young girl." She started. "She was violated and burned at the stake for being a witch."
Sous listened intently, to this travesty.
"The witch came to the fork in the road and demanded to know who burned the girl who was in the middle of the road, in the fork." The girl wrapped the blanket around herself tighter. "The humans blamed the wolves and the wolves blamed the humans. She had no way of knowing so she hexed both communities." She paused, looking up at the sky. "Witches are so powerful."
"I think witches might be the most powerful out of all the magae," Sous said. "Many of their spells can't be broken."
The girl stood up and looked at Sous. She bowed to the Alpha. "It was nice meeting you, Alpha."
Sous stood up and surprised the Omega by hugging her. The Omega was owned now so to hug her was Sous stating her dominance over this Alpha. Sous instinctively knew this and so did the Omega.
"You're very bold, Alpha." The Omega said, disappointed she was walking away from a more powerful Alpha, probably the most she would ever meet in her life.
Sous and Shadow rode behind Jason on his tiger. They made it into Red Woods within several days, not because of anything beyond helping Jason.
They managed to get numerous organs for Jason. Prior to going to Red Woods, they had stopped to sell the organs to a human merchant. Humans were into an activity called harvesting. An activity consisting of taking organs and selling them for high prices. It was a lucrative industry that brought Jason a lot of money.
They entered into Red Woods and went to Sous' shack. They jumped off the tiger and said their goodbyes to Jason. He nodded his head to them and wished them the best as he continued on with his profession.
The next morning, Sous awoke with Shadow and the two walked to the city hall. Shadow had told Sous they had a meeting with Doureena.
Zhiliary came out of Doureena's office and looked at Sous. Sous looked at Zhiliary, her eyes automatically going to Zhiliary's fingers.
Zhiliary stayed out while Sous and Shadow entered. Sous sat down without being ordered. Shadow looked from Sous to Doureena, unsure if he should sit down since he wasn't offered.
"Sit down, Shadow." Sous said.
The Omega listened, stunned at himself at being so quick to follow the thirteen year oldest order.
"You're looking good, Sous," Doureena started off.
"So do you, Doureena." Doureena noticed Sous didn't call her 'Alpha'.
Doureena pushed forward a vanilla envelope. Sous took it and looked at who it was from: The Island of Dimona.
"The kingdom said you will be coming for an apprenticeship." Doureena said, leaning back in her chair.
"You talk to me like your equal," Sous smirked. "What changed?"
"You grew up..."
"I'm still a traitor."
Doureena coughed. "A traitor with influence. Welcome to the world of politics." Doureena looked at Shadow who was no longer involved in the conversation. It wasn't his place as an Omega now that Sous was coming into her own. In just a couple of weeks, she would out rank him. "When did you become an acquaintance with the Princess of Dimona?"
Sous didn't answer the question. She wasn't sure just how much Doureena knew about her schooling.
From the conversation, Sous could tell Doureena was implying her dislike for her to be going to Dimona for this opportunity. Not only was she more powerful now but she was allied with many who one could deem as influential, political.
Sous stood up. "Shadow, let's go. I'm sure we have more missions to do back in Thornside. What a shame we wasted so much time already for nothing."
"So we're going back to Thornside?" Shadow asked.
Sous looked Doureena straight in the eyes and said, "Yes, but first, let's pay a visit to Kara and Monica."
