Chapter 102 - Dusk to Dusk Arc: Four

The witch disappeared into the fog and Sous became conflicted. On one hand, she wanted to help. On another hand, if this was done by a witch then it would be more tedious to circumvent. It could be a curse, a potion, a spell, it could be any one of them things that turned these humans and wolves prior into these wolf adjacent beasts. And that was if they were actually connected.

Sous walked to an abandoned building and sat down within the foyer. She taken her items that she bought such as the potions and new wand from the carriage before he had left.

She had had that training wand for years! Almost three years and here she was with a new, meaning she would have to get used to this one.

A sigh escaped her mouth and she wished she was with Kara for the early start of the the break free months.

One, she hadn't seen Kara for about a year. Did she grow? How was her spell casting? It was probably better than Sous'.

"I'm sorry," Sous said to no one. She couldn't help this village. "I'm sorry," she said again.

She picked up her items and walked into the village square. There she followed the main road out of the village. Toward the end, she saw a few of those beast watching her.

Sous stopped and stood there. She watched to see if they would attack her. She even saw one of them bear their neck to her. At first she wasn't sure if that truly was what she saw. To bear one's neck was to submit afterall.

Were they...submitting to her?

She felt bad for the humans but she continued on her way, putting her new wand in her pocket. Once she got home, she would begin to train with it so she could get used to it.

Usapolis was a huge city. It was one of the biggest in all of Nadia and was the biggest in the province of Uriah which was where Sous and them lived and even where the school Hacate stood.

Uriah was the biggest province in Nadia with cities and towns like Vania, Witching Salons to reside within the province.

Usapolis was an utopian city that had s futuristic feel to it. It was built predominantly on technology with the main population consisting of humans and elves.

A city of copper and brass, hustle and bustle with millions of people coming to and from. Where traffic was around the clock and other modes of transportations was used like trains, trams, subways, and bases.

Sous entered into the city and looked at her mission letter. She later got onto a bus and went to the address instructed of her. In total she had to take two busses but eventually got to the large building, a mall.

Inside she went to the floor as instructed and found herself at a beauty store.

"I have a package for the owner," Sous said at the counter.

A human female walked to Sous and smiled. She took the package and note from Sous. She gave Sous money from the drawer then sighed the letter.

"They sent a kid," the woman said impressed. "That town had been occupied for months by those wolf like things. What happened?"

Sous shrugged, not really interested in telling the story. So she kept her answer short. "They took down their Alpha."

"Awe, well, here you go!"

By the time Sous got out of the city, it was dusk. She walked toward the village, walking down the main road as she did before. From the fog, came a man on a large tiger.

This man walked with sacks tied to the tiger's side and he seemed to be examining the dead bodies on the ground. He saw Sous in the distance and waved his hand. "Oy!"

The man and his tiger walked to Sous. "Did you do this?"

Sous tilted her head at the man. "No, it was like this when I came across it."

He placed his hand on his chin and nodded his head. He seemed unsure of her answer but continued on. "There are a lot of dead bodies here. Some of their organs are still good. Where ya headed?"

"Thornside Village, I was doing a mission for Shadow."

"Shadow Gun?" The man asked.

Sous nodded her head, becoming more alert with each time she interacted with this man.

When the name 'Shadow Gun' was spoken, it either carried weight of an enemy or an ally.

"And you must be Sous then?" He said looking her up and down. He saw the equipment that was in her hand and she was able to see just what was in the sacks.

She made a face when the smell hit her nose and when the flies flew around her and the bags.

"What is in that?" She pointed to his bags.

"Organs, I collect organs. Listen, if you help me obtain more organs then I can give you a ride back to Thornside. It'll be quicker than on foot." He jumped off the tiger who yawn prior to laying down and walked to Sous. "I'll show ya."

One of the humans who were hanging from a tree, the man cut down. The branch swung up making the birds cry out, and fly away.

They walked to the human and the man placed his hand into the bod the dead. It was that simple for him and then he pulled out the heart.

"You're a warlock." Sous said. After witnessing his magic and use of it, she knew.

The man looked up at her and smiled. He held the heart out to her, the blood dripping down his forearm.

"Look at this heart. What color is it?"

"Practically black."

"That means its decaying. Its no good. So you go to Hacate?"

Sous nodded her head as they walked to another body. The man did the same thing, cutting the dead from the tree, pulling out the heart. This time, the heart was red still. He bounced the heart in his hand, nodding his his head.

"This is a good heart."

He stood up and walked to his tiger. He placed the heart into the sacks.

Sous was told he wanted twenty more organs. It didn't matter what they were as long as they weren't too decomposed. Since the humans were dead, the process would start but it mattered just how far along it was.

The way Sous got the organs was less graceful than the warlock who was simply able to put his hand in the body and then pull it out. Sous opted to not use her wand but instead she punched the human. The body collapsing in the location of the punch and she pulled out the organ.

Sous struck her hand into the next body, pulling out the kidneys. The man walked by and saw the body beaten up.

"Hey, what's with the damage?"

Sous looked at the kidneys in her hand then at the body. "So..."

The warlock seemed unimpressed. "Just because she's dead, doesn't mean you have to mistreat the body. Be more gentle. Can't you use your wand?"

The smell of rotten burnt skin filled the air. Sous used her wand to scalp the bodies with heat. She managed to pull out three organs safe for the warlock.

She walked to him and handed him the organs. He lifted her up on the tiger when he was doing putting them away.

Shadow sat on his porch with little baby basilisk squirming around his legs looking for dinner. A cold glass of beer was too his side and a gun on his hip. Perfect!

The large tiger jumped over the trees that surrounded many of the houses that stood side by side.

Shadow nearly spilt some of the beer when he saw Sous hop off the tiger.

"Jason!" Shadow yelled. He got up, patted Sous on the head, and walked to Jason, the warlock. "Long time no see."

"Yeah, I found ya child out there on the outside of Usapolis."

"Yeah, I gave her a mission. Wanna a beer?"

"Yeah, I could go for one."

The two men stepped inside as Sous ran to her room to put her items away. Shadow handed Jason a mug of beer from the fridge. "Sous, don't get to comfortable!" He yelled from the living room as Jason took a seat in Shadow's recliner, making the Omega's droop. "We're heading out to Red Woods to meet with Monica."
