Sous ran into her room after coming from Fornik, having spent a hundreds of don that she got for little baby basilisk. She slid on the floor to her bed and pulled the bed from the wall. The snake curled up as close to a ball as it could go.
She pulled the heating lamps and and heating rocks toward the edge of the wall. She set a small little encampment for little baby basilisk.
"Little baby basilisk, I know the cold is killing you so I went and got you some lamps thanks to Shadow sending me some money." She pulled the snake close to her and cuddled it before laying it on the ground. Beside the dresser was a rat. Sous glared at the rat. "You were supposed to be lunch for little baby basilisk and here you are getting fat on its food!" She picked the rat up, it was an average rat. Brown in color with unusual ears that were spread out like an elephant.
Sous threw the rat on her bed, she landing on the pillow.
"What you gonna do with that rat?" Her roommate asked. Due to the weather and the snow getting higher and higher, not much was happening around campus outside. Most activities took place indoors with few people making few trips to Fornik.
The inside of the school smelt like fire and pine cones as a new holiday was apparching: Bruma. Evergreen trees were being placed all over campus, small ones and tall ones. Tany had signed herself and Sous up to help with decoration. In fact, she were to be meeting with Tany soon.
Sous shrugged her shoulders looking at the rat that washed it's face.
"Its a girl rat because it doesn't have balls."
"No testicles."
"No testes," the roommate said.
"Little baby basilisk wasn't able to it. Usually I get it frozen mice from the pet store but decided to get a live rat. Maybe it's too big."
Sous and the roommate looked at the rat, but it was time for the roommate to go to class and Sous to meet with Tany.
Sous jogged down the stairs to the front entrance where she saw Tany wearing a Bruma sweater. Tany had one in her hands as well. It was blue with a Bruma tree on it. She handed it to Sous. A sweat drop came over Sous and a nervous smile as she didn't really want the ugly sweater, but took it anyway.
"What do I do with this?" Sous asked, holding up the sweater near her chest.
"Put it on, I want to see how it looks."
Hesitate, she took her sweater off that she already had on and placed the other sweater over her head. "This sweater is ugly, Tany."
"You look cute wearing it though."
"Mm."
They walked toward the cafeteria where other students already in the process of decorating.
"How was your sleep?"
"Its good. Really good."
For the last few days, Tany had been using a spell on Sous in the evening to get her to sleep, a deep sleep. There was a risk to it, a risk of Jacob getting hurt but the way Tany saw it, Sous was more important to her. Sous wasn't Super Man or whatever that hero wad that humans fancied. She was a girl who shouldn't have to worry about monsters coming after her or her friends.
Tany wasn't able to talk to Alana to see what she had found out. Alana was obligated to keep it confidential, either way, as long as Sous got sleep, then Tany was satisfied.
Sous and Tany picked up a tree from and worked together to set it up while other students began to place lights and ornaments on it. She wiped her hands on her pants just as Tany looked toward the entrance of the cafeteria. Faye was walking toward them.
In a hurry, Tany turned to Sous and grabbed her arm before Sous could pick up an orament. "We need more lights. Can you get some over from that closet?" She pointed to the direction with Sous running off.
Tany stepped in front of Faye. Faye attempted to move out the way but Tany simply followed her movements.
"Tany."
"Nothing happened," Tany automatically said.
Faye glared at the silver haired witch. "Jacob is her friend. What did you tell her to not be with him now?"
She shrugged and turned away from Faye to continue with the tree. "I just said he fell at the candy store."
"You didn't tell her it was krampus?"
Tany became defensive. "We don't know."
Faye shook her head and turned around to leave the cafeteria. Tany was being selfish, and was willing to risk the death of a friend to keep Sous ignorant and at peace.
While Sous slept peacefully in her bed unaware of the spell Tany placed on her, the rat jumped off the bed. She crawled under the bed where the snake was comfortable under some heating lamps. The rat slapped little baby basilisk across the face prior to running away.
The rat ran to the door and slid under it. She ran down the hall and eventually found herself in the hallway. Looking for food, the rat screeched in terror has it saw some creature with chains walking in the halls.
Further in the evening when the infirmary locked down, Faye appeared from the walls and walked to Jacob. He was awake with his blankets to his chin.
"Where's Sous? I haven't seen her in days. Why hasn't she come to see me?"
Faye took a chair and sat down to the side of Jacon. She was honest with him and informed him Tany hadn't relayed the truth to Sous. He was hurt by the statement, it clearly showed in his face.
"Sous wasn't sleeping well in the last few days. Plus with her panic attacks, lack of sleep could be dangerous for someone like her, make her more eratic." She paused and chillingly said to him, "You may die tonight but I will do my best to make sure it doesn't happen." She pushed her glasses on top of her nose and she blew her nose on the handkerchief she kept in her chest pocket. "Here it comes."
Just how strong was Faye? To Jacob it was like her and Sous could go toe to toe, something he would love to see happen.
Faye stood up and with through her needles from her hand. The krampus broke open the door and charged at Jacob. Faye jumped up and blocked the attack. The sound of Faye's needles and the krampus' clashed with each other, creating a clank that rung in Jacob's ears.
He turned over and landed on the floor, hiding underneath the bed. From what he could see, he saw Faye's movements were quick but so was the monster.
It used its chains to strike at Faye who dodged or even took hold of the chains with her needles on purpose. She used her head and knocked the head of krampus sho stumbled back. Blood spots on both his head and Faye's, with her blood streaming down her face, and dripping onto the floor.
Faye stabbed at kramous with krampus holding up his hand to block but the needle went through his hand. He growled and slapped Faye who twisted and fell to the ground. She quickly got up just in time as krampus slashed at her.
The krampus chased after Faye throughout the infirmary, luckily with Jacob being the only patient. But the commotion caused the night nurse to come running into the room. She screamed when she saw krampus. She pulled out her wand. Her screams irritated krampus. He covered her ears and ran to the nurse. Faye wasn't able to stop krampus from swiping the hand off the nurse. The hand fell to the ground with the wand still in its grasp. She screamed once more and the krampus slashed her throat. Her head went back but wasn't completely decapitated from her body. The nurse tried to lift her head back on her neck but bleed out, falling to her knees, collapsing to the ground.
"Tsk." Faye ran toward the beast and stabbed it in the back. The beast turned with Faye's needle still in its back and tried to swipe her. She ducked under his arm and pulled her needle out.
She slashed at krampus but krampus caught her arm, breaking it. Faye screamed out but used her foot to kick the beast in the head, performing a flip, getting out of his grasp, and using her good arm to stab the krampus in the neck.
The krampus looked at Faye, its neck still impaled. He laughed at her.
Alana ran into the room, her eyes wide at the blood she almost slipped on. She looked at the nurses body then to Faye who was battling the krampus. She knew there should have been guards, even hunters stationed outside the infirmary but the headmaster dismissed her.
"Tsk," Alana let out. She snapped her fingers.
The krampus combusted, blowing up. It's heart the only thing intact. Faye fell to the floor. She quickly ran to the heart and stabbed it with her needle, breaking it into pieces.
