He blinked, then looked up. "So, if I have a ring, I gotta tell you?"
The Duke nodded. "To ensure no hidden enchantments could affect your service."
Clint sighed in satisfaction. "There."
He glanced up and blinked when he saw the Duke still staring at him.
"What?" Clint said, ears flicking.
The Duke straightened. "Nothing. Just… watching brilliance in motion."
Clint narrowed his eyes suspiciously, then muttered, "Weirdo," before going back to work.
Fast forward, the scratching sound of pen against paper finally came to an end. Clint raised the single parchment high in the air, a grin stretched across his face.
"All done. I also added my conditions. Here, read it."
He slammed the lone paper down right in front of the Duke's stack of complicated multi-page contracts.
