Kieran's POV~
I watched over her through the long quiet day, and she never woke up once. I was not afraid. I knew this sleep was normal. The poison had been strong, and even after I extracted it, her body was still weak.
I remembered how shocked I had been when she first woke before. No one should have been able to open their eyes so soon after that poison. She should have slept longer. So now, I let her rest without a sound.
The night passed in silence, and I stayed beside her bed, listening to her soft breathing. I did not touch her, did not call her name. I only guarded her because rest was the only thing she needed.
Morning came slowly as I left her room, pale light falling across the room. I was about to make soup when I heard it... a sharp ring at the door. My steps stopped at once, and my chest tightened with a sudden heavy feeling.
