Author's POV~
Selene didn't even realize when her feet moved.
The moment Kieran left the room, she pushed herself up and followed after him, as if some invisible thread was pulling her along. The hallway outside was quiet, filled with faint sunlight and the soft smell of flowers.
She saw him in the kitchen.
He had already rolled up his sleeves, his tall figure standing at the counter, moving with calm, steady motions. He didn't turn to look at her. He didn't question why she was walking. He didn't tell her to rest.
He simply knew she was there.
His shoulders stiffened for a brief second when he sensed her presence… but then he continued chopping vegetables, pretending nothing changed.
She stopped at the doorway, hesitating for a moment, before slowly walking forward and sitting on the small wooden stool near the counter. Her fingers curled into the fabric of her dress as she silently watched him.
The quietness between them felt heavy.
