The Spirit Connection Tower was, in simple words, massive.
And it wasn't merely the length of this tower that was massive, but unlike most towers, even the width was mind-boggling.
Drapped in a white cloak that hid his appearance, Vekas strode towards the tower entrance. Sneaking into the Spirit Connection Tower was not only nearly impossible, but it would also cause unnecessary trouble for him.
Though the same might not be said about Revan, who was walking beside him. Vekas had a feeling that Revan could effortlessly sneak in there. [Spatial Travel] was not going to work, since space barriers are held in place to prevent the use of this technique.
Not just [Spatial Travel], even [Spatial Manipulation] didn't work here. The security of this tower was immense. It was a private property of the kingdom, after all. Not even the royal family would visit it frequently.
The guards, who stood in front of the entrance, spotted them both and immediately grew apprehensive.
Revan walked calmly with his hands in his pockets. He wore his suit, consisting of a crisp white shirt with the top button open, a black tie hanging loosely around his collar, black pants and shoes, and a black coat over the white shirt.
Since the coat buttons weren't fastened, his white shirt and black tie were clearly visible. He didn't bother concealing his handsome features, his messy jet-black hair, and his ruby-red eyes that were clearly directed at the guards.
Four guards were standing near the gate, and each one was tense at seeing two unknown visitors. However, they were more apprehensive of Vekas, since he had his appearance hidden under his white cloak.
The two stopped merely three steps from the guards. Vekas raised his head, gazing at them, his black, pearl-like eyes hidden from the guards' vision as he looked at them, his expression unreadable.
Revan, meanwhile, had a small smile on his face. His eyes held a glint of amusement, causing the guards to grip their spears tightly. They were clad in an armor that was a combination of steel and magouls, alongside a helmet of the same materials. Their defense seemed strong, but that didn't keep their guard down.
Vekas's mouth, which was visible from under the cloak, finally moved, a hoarse voice coming out. "King Charlie has summoned us here."
His hoarse voice was a result of using magic to change his voice, an art that was quite common in Varkana. At the same time, he pulled out two tokens and handed them to the guards.
Surprised, the guards held the tokens in their hands, analysing them and determining that they were legit. They looked at each other for a moment before nodding and turning to the duo.
One of the guards, the one who held the tokens in his hand, stepped forward. "Very well. You may enter. His majesty is inside."
With that, they all gave way and opened the entrance as Revan and Vekas entered. The guard who had spoken entered alongside them, with the rest closing the door behind them.
"Since this is the first time you are entering here, I shall guide you to the king," the guard told them as he handed the tokens back to them.
The three then began walking through the corridors. Vekas held his attention straight on the path they were walking on, seeing where the guard was leading them to.
Revan, meanwhile, was glancing around him, noting the walls, floor, and even the decorations. The floor seemed to be made of Magirite Glass, a glass with magical properties. The portraits, the vases, the trophies; everything held an energy signature.
Vekas also noticed this energy. Since Spirit Connection Tower was connected to the Spirit World, he deduced that this energy was Agma, which is a more spiritual version of Vyr.
The guard then had them climb up some stairs. There was a lot left to explore in just the ground floor of this place, yet exploration wasn't their objective, so they didn't bother complaining.
Is Sir Revan... pouting? Vekas sighed heavily, deciding to ignore the clear pout on Revan's face, which the guard luckily did not notice, or maybe he did? Vekas couldn't tell whether he had [Vyr Perception] or not.
With Vyr being everywhere, including in this tower, one could see from all directions. It wasn't difficult to figure out what was going on behind someone without turning around, as long as they had [Vyr Perception].
Of course, [Vyr Perception] had a certain range. Past that, one couldn't see what was going on. According to some books Vekas had read, some beings were capable of perceiving all Vyr in the universe. Of course, evidence wasn't really provided, so he had to take these claims with a grain of salt.
Soon, they arrived at the top. A normal person would've been extremely tired after climbing so many stairs, but they were unfazed. Vekas was a semi-spiritual lifeform, a War Saint, so he didn't really feel fatigue.
The guard, meanwhile, was accustomed to climbing these stairs for decades. It was no big deal for him. His muscles were bulging under the armor, but his face remained as impassive as ever.
As for Revan... Vekas couldn't really tell, but it was probably because he was a higher lifeform than a normal human.
In the top, they didn't even have to walk a hundred steps before facing a gigantic door. The guard stepped forward, his eyes glowing with a golden hue.
He stretched his right hand at the two behind him. "Please hand over your tokens."
The two handed him the tokens, and he held those tokens close to his chest. His eyes began to emit a blinding, golden light. Vekas squinted his eyes briefly, while Revan's eyes seemed to be holding a glint of interest and curiosity.
The guard then stretched out his left hand, placing it at the door.
"The spirits demand access." His voice seemed deeper than normal, a loud echo following it.
Following that, the door slowly sank to the bottom. After it fully sank, the guard handed the tokens back to them, his eyes no longer glowing. "You may enter."
His voice also went back to normal. Vekas looked at the tokens, finding that they had lost their originally golden color, now a blank gray that seemed lifeless.
They previously contained the Agma needed to open the door. Discarding the token on the ground, no longer finding its use, Vekas entered the room alongside Revan.
The room was incredibly spacious, more than an average house of a minister, which was already extremely huge. In the middle stood an altar, and around it were several lit candles.
These candles flickered as the two walked. The room had an enormous amount of Agma, far more than the corridors they were walking through before. There were barely any decorations in this room, mostly just candles that were meant to light up the room, which had zero windows.
As they approached the altar, they found a lone man standing in the middle of it. He had short, dirty-blonde hair, emerald-green eyes that shone in the dim room, and a rigid stature that didn't seem to bend in the slightest. He wore imperial robes, his hands clenched into fists at his sides.
Vekas stepped forward, getting down to one knee. "You called for me, your majesty."
Yes, it was Charlie.
The king gazed at Vekas before gesturing him to rise, which he did. "Indeed. I am planning to attack the rebels' bases. I shall need your help in subduing them."
His gaze turned to Revan, his eyelids drooping slightly. "Would Sir Revan like to help us with this?"
Revan's smile widened slightly. "That depends. If I feel like it, I'll lend you a hand. Right now, I came here to see what the deal with this building is."
Hearing that, Charlie sighed heavily. "I see. As for this building, it is the Spirit Connection Tower. This altar here is what we use to gain limited access to the Spirit Realm, allowing Spiritual beings that reside there to communicate with us, and vice versa. Through this, we can gain advice, knowledge about unknown history, facts about the Spirit Realm, and much more."
He took a step forward, gesturing to the room with wide arms. "This Spirit Connection Tower was created by our ancestors so that we can connect with kings who have ascended to the level of a spiritual being, and are now residing in the Spirit Realm."
He furrowed his brows, his gaze at Revan turning sharp. "I do wonder how you were able to perfectly replicate the token I had asked you to give to Vekas for our meeting. I clearly don't remember inviting you, so I didn't give you any token."
Vekas sighed as he heard this. There was, in fact, only one token Charlie handed out, which was for Vekas. Yet Revan somehow replicated this token, gaining one for himself with such accuracy that it was literally no different from a real one. There was no sign of forgery at all.
The guard couldn't tell that one of them was actually formed by Revan, rather than genuinely being crafted using Agma. Even Vekas wouldn't have doubted anything had he not seen Revan replicate it for himself.
Worst of all, he couldn't even tell what technique Revan used. He just snapped his fingers, and boom, a new token was formed, having the exact same details as Vekas's tokens.
"Hahaha, a man never reveals the tricks he has up his sleeves." Revan winked, a smirk on his face, his eyes gleaming with amusement.
Ignoring Charlie's distraught face, he continued. "But enough of that. You said that this is a place that connects this realm to the Spirit Realm to a limited extent, correct? Could this tower also gain limited access to the Angelic Realm and the Demonic Realm?"
Charlie's expression changed, the sharpness of his gaze softening as he lowered his head, as if lost in thought. "It can possibly be done here. However, the tower wasn't designed for this, so no. As of right now, it doesn't grant access to those realms."
Revan hummed in response, his gaze scanning the entire room. "Interesting... very interesting indeed..."
Vekas cleared his throat. "Let's get back to the point. Your majesty, you wish to deal with the rebels. Augustus and I recently worked together and have found the main headquarters of the rebels. Attacking there is our best choice."
"Augustus? The mole in the rebels?" Charlie raised his brows in surprise. "If that is the case, then there is nothing to wait for. I'll mobilise the army immediately after I go back. Vekas, you and Augustus should go ahead and go to their lair and wait for me there. Sir Revan, if you wish to help us, then you should accompany Vekas."
Vekas nodded. "Understood. Here is the location."
Using [Thought Discussion], Charlie was able to see the location that Sierra had initially shared with the general. He hummed in response, a small smile on his face.
Turning to Revan, Charlie and Vekas found him staring at a wall with a distant gaze. His smile was missing, which alerted the two immediately.
"Sir Revan, is something wrong?" Vekas asked, his brows furrowed in nervousness.
Revan turned to them, a small smile on his face. "It seems that our plan of attack would have to wait. Pests aspire to be obstacles."
Suddenly, he turned and held a spear that tried to pierce his torso. Looking at the culprit, he found the same guard who had led them here, a cold glint in his eyes, killing intent oozing from his body.
The other two immediately got alerted. Vekas rushed, sending the guard flying with a kick.
The guard landed on his feet a few steps away. His expression was still cold, his brows furrowed.
"What is the meaning of this?" Just as Charlie's cold voice finished these words, the wall that Revan was staring at burst open with a bang.
A massive hole was formed that exposed the outside world to the tower. Vekas and Charlie sharply turned to this hole, finding a person entering the room through it.
"Hehehehe, long time no see, your majesty. I hope you are ready for your funeral."
"Harmon?!"
"How are you alive?!"
Both Vekas and Charlie exclaimed at the same time.
Revan raised his eyebrows, his eyes revealing a glint of interest.
Ignoring their surprise and shock, Harmon leapt at them, his sword in hand, a crazy smirk on his face.
