If I ever want to come out of this, I would have to act fast.
The thoughts of Irene swirl back into my head. I haven't reached out to her in days now; she must be so worried and mad at me at the same time.
Just then, my phone rings, and I flinch. I reach for the phone, checking who it is. It's Irene.
"Hi, Irene!" I greet her cheerfully, a bead of sweat trickling down my forehead.
"Seriously?" Her voice sounds really annoyed.
"Irene, I'm so sorry. I have been so caught up in some office drama, I forgot to reach out."
"What office drama? What happened?" Her voice is laced with concern.
"We should meet. I have to tell you this in person," I exhale softly.
"Oh okay. Uh, I also have something to tell you," her voice drops to a shy whisper.
Probably the fact that she's dating Kael which is strange because she hates him to bits.
