Chapter 10 - Yeah, I Do. Now, Run as if Your Life Depends on It.

Leahlya glared at her father. She asked, "What do you mean by this?"

Victor replied, "It's what you heard. You wanted to become a private investigator? You can, but if your safety is assured."

"That means you won't give me permission even if the 'real' permission comes, right? Wow, you have played some real shit, Father."

"Language! You should mind your language first, okay?" chastised Victor.

Pushing the finished plate, Leahlya grabbed the pastry with her hand and began eating it.

"You are awfully making your point. Although, I will not change my mind. Safety comes first and then, the other things. You assure me and we are okay."

Munching on the pastry, Leahlya asked, "Yeah? And how do I do that?"

"Hmmm... by taking some knights with you. My best knights, that is. Ones that I have selected personally for you."

Immediately, Leahlya yelled, "No! It's not happening! How do you even think people will come to me if they are knights guarding me like some precious jewel?! No one will have confidence in me!" It was a ludicrous idea. She should have thought about it before that her father might play some underhanded tactic.

"We have to find something different, Father. Anything else but this. So, no. I am not going to agree to that!"

"Then, I have another idea," suggested Victor.

"Let's hear it then. Show me your fathoming effort, will you? One that would actually be plausible."

Victor smirked, "The other alternative is you learn the art of sword, properly. Last time, you just ran away from the lessons. So, this time... prove it. Prove that you can wield a sword."

Sword? That never crossed her mind. Out of all the things, he wanted her to learn to wield the sword? Was he kidding her? Oh, he must be out of his mind to even suggest that idea.

"No. I won't... I mean, I can't. Swords are not good for me. I am very bad with them. Also, my mana reserves are not very high."

"Low. You want to say low," mocked Victor.

Leahlya nodded begrudgingly and said, "You know that. So, would please scratch that? We can find something else."

Victor laughed and stood up. With a gleeful voice, he said, "Too bad then. Unless, you prove that your safety isn't compromised then... I will think about that. You might consider this a dirty trick but all I have in mind is your safety. So, choose wisely."

Leahlya glared at Victor and slammed her hands on the table. She yelled, "Fine! I will learn how to wield a sword! BUT NO KNIGHTS! DO WE UNDERSTAND?!"

"Yes."

I have never thought this was what my father had in mind. Out of all people, he called Luke Carthdow to teach me. A fucking male lead! He was one of the most dangerous people in this world. Although, he won't attack me... I am still afraid. Thanks, Father... for your wonderful gift. His brown hair was swaying from the air constantly hitting his head. Eyes like emerald were shinning, and his posture was... I mean, wow! He looks like a fucking model! If I ignore the fact that we are not at best of the terms. Also, let's ignore his glare. He is glaring at me like crazy.

"Lord Argaentine is delusional to think that you can use sword," said Luke.

Leahlya tilted her head and said, "You are here to teach me. Don't comment uselessly."

"I have heard that you are going to do something 'weird.' A private investigator? Why not apply for the Red Knights? Oh wait, you won't get selected and you know that."

"Hehe... so funny. You are charming as always, Luke. But I have to say word travels fast. To hear something like this, you must be shocked! Oh, you poor thing~ I am feeling very sad for you."

"Call me, 'Teacher.' From now on, I will teach you how to wield sword. It depends on your performance. If I say no, then it's over," smirked Luke.

Scared, Leahlya took back a step. She was experiencing goosebumps all over body.

Fuck! Luke really wants to have his revenge... maybe he has forgotten.

"Luke... Teacher... can we just skip this all? I mean, you can say that you taught me everything, and I learned everything. Hmmm... one week. Yes! One week! After one week, you can tell that to my father," suggested Leahlya.

Luke hates me. So, he will try to use this opportunity to get rid of me!

"Is that so?" asked Luke. His tone was full of unknown emotions.

"Yes. We can do that. Luke, I am certain you don't want to teach me. So, what do you say? Are we good?"

Luke gave her a weird smile. "It's a good idea."

"So, I can take this as a sign of acceptance?"

Luke shook his head and said, "No. We are not good. I am not good. Also, 'Teacher,' call me by that designation only. As for getting rid of you? No, I won't get rid of you. They always say revenge is best served when cold. And I have to say, I will have my revenge in this life. Cry, whine, pray... do anything you want. But remember, I will not show you any mercy."

Leahlya gulped audibly. She asked, "You remember?"

Luke glared at her with cold eyes. "Yeah, I do. Now, run as if your life depends on it."
