Chapter 177 - 168

Everyone watching the livestream felt their hearts tighten at once.

Inside the command room, the submarine's captain froze.

> "Repeat that?"

> "We're about one hundred meters away, straight ahead! There's a glowing red target! Turning on the spotlight now!"

Click!

The submarine's searchlight fired into the abyss, its beam carving through thousands of meters of crushing darkness.

What appeared beyond the light stunned the entire command center.

Just outside the spotlight's visible boundary, a massive orange luminescence pulsed within the black water—revealing a creature no one could fully see, only sense.

Gasps filled the room.

> "What the hell is THAT? A… a sperm whale?"

> "A whale that big?! That's impossible!"

> "That thing is terrifying…"

Leon Lake stared at the orange glow in silence, his eyes narrowing.

The voice from the Mobile Task Force submarine cut in:

> "It's one of the giant entities, but… it's absurdly huge! Rough estimate… over a thousand meters long."

Leon immediately asked:

> "Hume index?"

The reply came with panic.

> "Hume levels are… 51."

Natasha Romanoff nearly jumped from her seat.

> "Fifty-one?! Normal reality is a hundred! That means… reality here is collapsing."

Nick Fury clenched his jaw.

> "Then spacetime anomalies are already active. It's going to get worse…"

He stared at the blurry orange mass on the screen, a low dread building in his chest.

> "Is that thing what's destabilizing reality?"

---

Meanwhile, in the research vessel's command room, scientists argued in confusion.

> "Why is there a creature this massive in such a narrow trench?"

> "And why has no one ever discovered it?"

The submarine crew cut in sharply:

> "Have any of you considered something?"

Silence.

> "This isn't the damn Manila Trench."

The entire command room erupted into chaos.

The researcher who just questioned the size of the creature looked as if his soul left his body.

> "…If this isn't the Manila Trench… then where are we?"

Before anyone could speak again—

THUD.

THUD.

THUD.

Something was knocking on the submarine's hull.

---

> "WHAT THE HELL?!"

The MTF team shouted through the intercom.

> "Something is tapping on the porthole!"

Shock froze the command room.

More than 3,000 meters underwater, something was tapping like a person knocking on a door.

The livestream exploded with hysteria.

Leon leaned closer to the wall of screens. His gaze swept through the camera feeds—

—until camera #18 stopped him cold.

Even Leon frowned.

Behind him, the lead researcher gasped.

> "Dear god… what IS that?"

The livestream erupted.

> "At 3,000 meters deep?!"

> "Is that… HANDS? Human-like?!"

> "Those are WEBBED fingers! Why does it look human?!"

> "I can't watch this—NOPE, NOPE, NOPE—"

---

S.H.I.E.L.D.

Agents stared at the broadcast, breath held.

Natasha shivered.

> "It looks… like a mermaid?"

Nick Fury shook his head sharply.

> "Not mermaid. Siren."

---

On-screen, the pale, webbed hand pressed against the porthole, attached to a figure unseen in the darkness. The submarine crew swallowed their fear.

> "Have you seen anything like this before?"

> "No."

Before the commander could respond, the mission director shouted:

> "If it's a siren, CAPTURE IT!"

---

The hand disappeared instantly.

> "It's fleeing! Fast! We're pursuing!"

The submarine lurched into motion, engine roaring.

Only then did the audience realize:

This was no ordinary submarine.

It was armored, high-speed, equipped with anomalous containment tech.

The water churned violently as the sub surged after the creature.

Moments later—

> "Target acquired! We caught it!"

The command room erupted.

The mission director leaned forward.

> "Does it speak? What does it look like?!"

> "It's shouting something—hold on, we're enabling translation."

White noise crackled through the broadcast…

Then—

> "Match found. Language identified as… ancient Chinese."

The entire livestream froze.

> "These sirens… SPEAK?!"

Through the radio, a warped, electric voice murmured:

> "You… humans… why have you come here?"

The mission director pointed at the linguist.

> "Interview it! NOW! Record everything!"

> "On it!"
