As soon as Dr. Kondraki finished speaking, his face turned solemn again.

"But I still don't recommend you get involved with those projects too early," he warned.

The moment those words left his mouth, not only did Zyn and Lois look puzzled, but even the viewers in the live broadcast room were left confused.

What project?

"Doctor, I already have Level 4 clearance," Leon Lake replied calmly.

Dr. Kondraki stiffened.

He stared blankly at Leon for a long time before letting out a deep sigh.

"Sometimes... ignorance is bliss," he muttered, patting Leon on the shoulder before walking away, looking utterly defeated.

At that moment, the audience noticed something else:

Years had passed, and Dr. Kondraki looked much older.

But soon, curiosity returned to the mysterious conversation.

What exactly were they talking about?

Lois once again voiced what everyone was thinking:

"What does Dr. Kondraki mean? What project did you apply for?"

Everyone expected Leon to stay silent, but to their surprise, he answered directly.

"SCP-2317."

"SCP-2317?" Lois blinked. "I've read that file. It doesn't seem like anything special, right?"

Leon replied, "That's because your security clearance is only Level 2."

The audience grew more impatient, eager to know what this containment really was.

---

S.H.I.E.L.D. Headquarters

"You think people with different clearance levels see different versions of the file?" Natasha Romanoff speculated aloud.

"Very likely," Nick Fury nodded.

"We've got similar protocols inside S.H.I.E.L.D. for highly classified intel."

Sure enough, once clearance was mentioned, Lois stopped pressing.

He simply shrugged. "You're the boss."

Only Zyn seemed visibly unsettled at the mention of SCP-2317.

She looked at Leon seriously and asked, "The containment procedures for that object include a 'ritual.' Do you know what that means?"

Ritual?

That word sent a ripple of confusion through the audience.

"What kind of ritual?"

"An opening ceremony? A sacrifice?"

"I heard some ancient tribes still perform rituals to please their gods..."

---

S.H.I.E.L.D.

"Ritual... please..." Natasha mumbled, then froze. Her eyes widened in realization.

"That's it!" she exclaimed. "Rituals are meant to please something... or someone..."

She didn't finish, but the rest of the room reached the same conclusion.

"Gods."

Nick Fury's expression turned grim.

---

Back in the scene, Leon didn't answer Zyn directly. Instead, the screen faded to black, transitioning again.

The audience's curiosity was now at a fever pitch.

---

Transition Complete

Leon reappeared inside the Foundation's secure data facility, standing in front of a strange-looking machine, typing rapidly.

> [Welcome to SCiPNET Direct Storage Terminal. Please enter password.]

Leon typed without hesitation.

> [Please enter user permissions.]

He entered: Level 0

> [ACCESS DENIED. Requires SCP number + Authorization level.]

He tried again, this time entering credentials for one of his research assistants:

Username: Jonathan Vance

Position: Research Assistant, Site-18

Clearance Level: 0

The screen lit up.

> [Item #: SCP-2317]

[Project Title: Gate to Another World]

[Object Class: [DATA EXPUNGED]]

Special Containment Procedures:

SCP-2317 is stored in a 3m x 3m x 3m reinforced chamber within Containment Area-179. Armed guards are posted 24/7 to prevent unauthorized access.

Description:

SCP-2317 is a wooden door and doorframe originally located in the basement of a 19th-century Massachusetts brownstone. When opened, it transports any person who walks through it into a parallel reality.

The audience paused. The description seemed... underwhelming.

"Teleportation? That's it?"

"No! Look at the corner!" Natasha pointed at a small line of text.

> [Further information is restricted to Level 1 personnel or above.]

"That's why Leon kept emphasizing clearance!" someone in the live chat yelled.

---

Leon accessed another user's credentials — this time with Level 1 Clearance.

The screen changed.

> Object Class: Keter

The room fell silent.

Even Nick Fury looked shaken.

"Another Keter..." he whispered. The very word triggered bad memories of SCP-239 and SCP-682.

The file now included much more:

> All personnel assigned to SCP-2317 must undergo mandatory psych evaluations every two months.

Must score at least 72 on the Milgram obedience test.

Must be unmarried, childless, and show unwavering loyalty to the Foundation.

All on-duty personnel must wear identity-concealing helmets with voice modulators. No personal interaction is allowed.

One D-class personnel convicted of murder must perform 'Procedure 220-Kayla Basas' each month.

A Level 3 supervisor must observe.

Afterward, the D-class is returned to quarters — or terminated.

What?!

S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters was dead silent.

"Identity concealment... ritual sacrifice... this is religious!" Fury muttered.

"Ritual…" Natasha whispered again. "To please something powerful."

Leon didn't stop there. He entered a Level 2 Clearance identity.

> [Authorization accepted. This event has been reported to RAISA.]

More of the file was revealed.

> [SCP-2317 leads to a salt pan stretching several kilometers.]

Seven marble pillars (SCP-2317-A to G) stand ten meters from the gate.

Each pillar is 7 meters tall, covered in ancient, unrecognizable reliefs. The artistic style does not match any known civilization, ancient or modern.

---

Back in SHIELD:

"Pillars? Reliefs?" Natasha frowned. "That just proves something lived there. Why the Keter classification?"

Fury said nothing.

Then the final paragraph loaded:

> Addendum 1 – Procedure 220-Kayla Basas

This ritual must be performed at solar noon each day.

Failure to execute this ritual correctly may result in an XK-Class End-of-the-World Scenario.

In the event of error, the containment room must be sealed, and a Level 2 emergency must be declared to the O5 Council.

---

Everyone was stunned.

"WHAT?!"

"It's just a door?!"

"But the wrong ritual could END THE WORLD?!"

"God… this universe is completely insane."
