Chapter 93 - Akainu, You Idiot

"Heh… Gahaha… You actually brought me back to Dressrosa?!"

"You imprisoned me—in my own kingdom—using one of my Shadow Thread Marionettes?!"

"Absurd! Ignorant! Pathetic!"

Donquixote Doflamingo reverted to his human form, arms outstretched, transforming into thousands upon thousands of threads that surged outward in every direction.

Wherever the threads touched, the surrounding structures were assimilated—rewoven into the same silken material.

His presence began merging with the entire island itself, indistinguishable from its environment, and growing more imposing by the second.

"All of you… be good little rats and wait to die inside this birdcage!"

The threads shot skyward, converging hundreds of meters above into a single focal point, forming a massive dome-shaped birdcage that cut the island's capital into twisted, chaotic partitions.

Every thread slowly began retracting toward the center-most one.

Anything in their path—no matter how solid—was instantly shredded into microscopic fragments, like scraps fed through an industrial shredder.

Terrified civilians, who had been trembling in hiding, were forced into the streets, wailing and screaming as they sprinted desperately toward the city center.

They knew full well that even if they made it there, all it would do is buy them a few extra seconds of life.

But when faced with death, survival instinct overwhelms reason—no one had the luxury of thinking straight.

Mass panic and trampling broke out on every street.

In mere moments, more civilians were crushed to death underfoot by their fellow townspeople than were sliced apart by the threads.

Jinbei weaved desperately through the crisscrossing threads. The chaos and tragedy unfolding around him filled his heart with anguish.

All he could do was disrupt the threads slightly with his water-empowered strikes to avoid being diced—beyond that, he was powerless to help.

McGuy swung his platinum-lit longsword with all his might, finally managing to slash through over a dozen threads.

But in the very next moment, the severed threads reconnected as if nothing had happened—good as new.

No matter how fast McGuy's blade was, it could only carve a path for himself.

For the helpless civilians, whose movement couldn't match his speed, the gaps closed far too quickly to be of use.

As the threads contracted further, casualties escalated at an exponential rate.

Law, barely surviving the threads' onslaught, turned back toward the mass of civilians rapidly being driven into hell.

His eyes brimmed with rage and sorrow, but he could do nothing.

In anguish, he shouted, "Doflamingo! Release the threads! Stop hurting the civilians! I'll do anything you ask!"

The threads' retraction slowed slightly.

Doflamingo appeared midair, lounging atop a throne-like silken sofa, looking down at the world below with absolute disdain.

He sneered, "I want Roya kneeling in front of me, begging for forgiveness. Can you make that happen?"

"You're just some lucky bastard who got your hands on the Ope Ope no Mi—and now you actually think you're a real doctor?"

"These worthless worms… what's the point in saving them?!"

Suddenly, the threads accelerated again.

The outermost ring of civilians didn't even have time to scream before over a thousand people were shredded to pieces in an instant.

Crack!

Law clenched his jaw so tightly that his teeth shattered.

Even though this island held memories he'd rather forget...

Once, during his youth, this had been the place he called home.

How could he bear to watch his former neighbors and childhood streets reduced to bloody pulp?

"STOP! I'll do whatever you want! Just STOP!!"

Law cried out, dropping to his knees before Doflamingo.

A flash of satisfaction passed over Doflamingo's face—the joy of vengeance fulfilled.

But just then, a large hand slammed down on Law's shoulder, pulling him back up from his kneeling position.

"You think you can kneel to trash like him without our master's permission?!"

"This damn birdcage? We'll just rip it apart!"

Law was stunned. Before he could respond, Squard had already charged straight to the converging threads.

Both hands turned pitch-black, wrapped in a dense layer of Armament Haki.

Without hesitation, he grabbed hold of a thread and yanked!

A horrible screech rang out as the Haki-covered hand fought against the cutting power of the threads. A wisp of blue smoke rose into the air.

But—he held it.

That thread, which had been steadily contracting, stopped.

In the next moment, a tall figure appeared at Squard's side.

Jinbei!

Armament Haki coated his entire body.

With a sumo-like lunge, he grabbed over a dozen threads at once and shoved them outward with all his might.

The combined effort tore open a five-meter-wide gap in the birdcage.

The civilians weren't fools—they immediately reversed direction and sprinted toward the escape route.

Doflamingo's smirk vanished instantly.

He shook his head furiously and shouted, "You dumb mutts playing lapdog! What do you think this'll accomplish?!"

"Where's Roya?! Huh?! Where's your master now?!"

"Why isn't he here to save you!?"

Just then—a bolt of platinum lightning struck down from the heavens.

BOOOOM!!!

It blasted Doflamingo's location into fragmented space, scattering energy in every direction.

He was barely able to flee, transforming into a thin line of thread and slipping through the cracks.

As he reformed into human shape, both arms had already turned into ten thick cables, each one wrapped in dense purple Armament Haki.

With a vicious snap, they lashed toward McGuy—the one who had almost sliced him to ribbons earlier.

But then—a sharp pain stabbed into his lower back!

A green dagger had pierced straight through him!

Before Doflamingo could react, the blade dissolved into countless green lightning threads, flooding his body and invading every single cell.

The threat of death descended like a storm cloud over his heart.

With a desperate roar, Doflamingo rapidly turned his body back into pure thread form.

The previously offensive Haki-coated cables coiled back around him, forming a protective cocoon, and launched him away to create distance.

On the ground, a green electric glow flickered on Law's right hand—

And then he collapsed.

That last Gamma Knife attack had completely exhausted him.

He passed out on the spot.

In the air, McGuy darted forward and caught the unconscious Law.

Doflamingo landed high above, trembling at the internal destruction he had just suffered.

If he hadn't transformed into energy in time—that single attack would've killed every cell in his body.

Just as he was preparing to regroup and unleash his most powerful Awakening Technique: Divine Execution—

A low, scornful voice echoed out:

"Donquixote… you're still such a disappointment. A few low-level nobodies almost took your life."

Doflamingo turned around, face twisted in shame and fury, staring at the magma giant.

"You damn idiot, Akainu! Didn't you almost get chopped in half?!"

The magma giant burst into hearty laughter. "You really thought that one slash could kill me?"
