Chapter 63 - [63]. The Temptation of Street Food

As Beerus spoke, a dangerous gleam flickered in his eyes. A purple aura of destruction began to rise around him, thick and suffocating.

The last person who dared lie to him was King Vegeta… and the grass on his grave was probably two meters tall by now.

Whis, smiling serenely with his staff in hand, looked completely harmless as he stared at Kaso.

He didn't care if Kaso was telling the truth or not—if the food didn't meet expectations, Beerus would act. There was no need for Whis to worry.

Kaso spoke weakly, "Lord Beerus, that delicious food is on a planet called Earth."

There was no doubt about Earth's cuisine—after all, even a little glutton like Ausbi'er had personally tasted it. From the look on her face back then, it was clear that Earth's food was on a whole other level.

And if the anime was anything to go by, Beerus loved Earth's food. So maybe… just maybe… Kaso could use this to get him to spare the Saiyans!

"Whis," Beerus said blandly.

The moment he spoke, Whis lightly tapped his staff on the ground.

A glowing halo of divine light appeared atop the orb on his staff, like a legendary night pearl that had been treasured for a thousand years—shining and radiant.

After a brief scan, Whis reported respectfully, "Lord Beerus, this 'Earth' is quite far. Estimated time of arrival… three seconds."

Among the twelve universes, Beerus was infamous for his laziness. Aside from brief periods of activity after waking, he spent most of his time in deep sleep.

This time, he'd woken up purely because he was hungry.

As expected—

"Three seconds?"

Beerus snorted, nostrils flaring in annoyance. Even that long was too far for him!

When he'd first seen the Saiyans, he'd felt a momentary urge to destroy both them and Frieza… but then Kaso mentioned good food, and he decided to wait.

What annoyed him was that it'd take three whole seconds to get there!

Kaso debated whether he should use Instant Transmission to take them directly. With his current strength, a one-way trip to Earth would push his limits—he'd need rest afterward.

So he gave up on that idea. It was still better to let Whis handle the teleportation.

"Kid, if I don't see this 'amazing food' in three seconds… you know what happens," Beerus said coldly.

"Let's go."

A thick pillar of prismatic light enveloped the four of them and shot skyward.

As the light faded, they vanished from sight.

...

Three seconds later.

Four figures materialized near Korin Tower on Earth.

"This is the planet you were talking about?" Beerus asked.

"Mm."

Kaso nodded. The moment he saw Korin Tower, he knew they were on Earth. But how did Whis end up bringing them here, of all places?

Just as Kaso was wondering…

"Lord Beerus, look at this structure," Whis said, puzzled. He had only chosen a random location on Earth—but this tower looked oddly familiar…

Beerus glanced around. All he saw was a vast, uninhabited forest—no trace of any so-called food. The feeling of betrayal flared up in his chest. He was moments away from obliterating Kaso and the others…

But then he heard Whis speak, and paused.

Even a being like Whis was curious?

Just what was this ancient tower?

Beerus gave Kaso a sharp look before walking over with Whis to examine Korin Tower. He casually touched its outer wall.

As the God of Destruction's deadly gaze shifted away, Kaso finally breathed a sigh of relief. He'd thought he was about to die!

Beerus patted the tower and said, "Doesn't seem like anything special."

Whis, however, furrowed his brow and said nothing. He was completely absorbed in studying the structure.

"How strange… Why can't I remember?" Whis muttered.

In the vast universe, every Angel served a God of Destruction. If their god died for some reason, the Angel would fall into slumber until a new one was chosen, at which point they'd awaken again.

Angels didn't die. They lived unimaginably long lives—and saw just about everything.

But right now, Whis couldn't recall what this tower was. That… was odd.

"Forget it for now."

Whis turned to Kaso and smiled warmly. "Well then, little one, why don't you take us to that delicious food you mentioned?"

Kaso was slightly puzzled. These two were among the most powerful beings in the universe—what hadn't they seen before? Why were they so interested in Korin Tower?

Still, that could wait. Right now, feeding them was priority number one. The Saiyans' survival might depend on it.

"May I trouble you both to place a hand on me?"

Now that they were on Earth, Kaso could use Instant Transmission for short-range travel—it would be faster than relying on Whis.

"Yardrat-style Instant Transmission?" Whis instantly saw through his intentions.

Beerus didn't seem to care. To him, mastering a few teleportation tricks was meaningless. True strength came from power, not flashy abilities.

In fact, if Kaso ever tried to escape using this, Beerus was confident he could crush him before he even vanished.

"Let's go," Beerus said flatly.

The four disappeared once more.

...

High above—in the Heavenly Realm—a dark orb-like figure floated silently.

Mr. Popo, standing in the celestial realm, looked down at the four travelers below. His gaze stirred ever so slightly… then quickly returned to calm.

...

Elsewhere, on the outskirts of West City.

This area bordered the wealthy metropolis but looked utterly destitute by comparison.

The street was packed with folding tables. Locals sat on plastic stools, chatting and laughing as they ate.

If Bulma had been here, she would've blurted out:

"A street food market?"

Yes. Kaso had brought Beerus and Whis to a humble food street.

After all, these two hadn't seen much of Earth yet. Better to start with the lowest-tier food and build upward. No need to spoil their palates with high-end dishes right away!

"Kaso-nii, I'm hungry…" Ausbi'er said pitifully.

Beerus sniffed the aroma coming from the neighboring tables and couldn't help but swallow hard.

In that moment, all thoughts of destroying the Saiyans were gone. He was entirely focused on one thing—food.

If a dish didn't appear soon… Kaso's life was forfeit!

Whis had already turned to stare at the table next to them. Watching the diners chew and savor their food, even he couldn't help but swallow.

"You little punk, are you trying to die?"

Beerus growled, his patience nearly gone.

He had never smelled anything so fragrant in his entire life. And this brat was still standing around doing nothing?

Under Beerus's lethal glare, Kaso shivered and immediately shouted:

"Boss! Bring out the food!!"

Soon, a waiter from one stall came rushing over with plates of hot, sizzling food.

But Kaso knew—this wasn't nearly enough.

He quickly gave orders to nearby vendors. One after another, the stalls brought out everything they had.

Then another.

And another.

Before long, the entire food street's vendors were marching over, trays in hand.

Every table from every food stall on the street was now being served—to just four people.
