The morning sun rose slowly over Qingling Sect, its golden light reflecting on the grand tournament arena where thousands of cultivators gathered. Flags of countless sects and empires fluttered in the wind, and an air of anticipation crackled with spiritual energy.
The host, Referee Li Xun (李迅), stepped forward, his voice enhanced by Qi so that it resonated across the entire ground.
"The first duel of the Continental Grand Tournament shall begin!"
His words silenced the crowd.
Two figures walked onto the dueling stage.
Luo Feng – an Outer Disciple of Qingling Sect, dressed in black and green combat robes, the emblem of Qingling glowing faintly on his chest.
Yan Chi – a Sea Cloud Kingdom disciple, wielding a long blade that shimmered with watery light, his robe embroidered with sea-waves.
The atmosphere tensed as both participants cupped their fists, paying respect to each other, then to the elders above.
The Rules Announced
Referee Li Xun raised his hand:
No killing unless it is the opponent's choice.
No usage of poison or concealed weapons.
External aid during the duel is forbidden.
Victory is declared by knockout, surrender, or inability to continue.
Participants may use all their powers freely as long as they maintain control.
A golden bell rang— the match began.
Duel of Determination
Yan Chi struck first, his blade releasing a surge of water energy, forming a roaring tide across the platform. Luo Feng dashed through the waves with agile footwork, channeling earth Qi into his spear.
"Stone-Piercing Fang!" he roared, thrusting forward.
Yan Chi countered with "Wave-Splitting Slash!", the two attacks colliding with a thunderous crack. Sparks and water droplets exploded in the air as the duel intensified.
The crowd roared, elders nodded with interest.
The fight continued fiercely—blades clashing, Qi roaring—until Luo Feng executed a sudden move, his spear glowing with golden light.
"Mountain Shattering Strike!"
The spear smashed against Yan Chi's chest, throwing him backward out of the ring. He was knocked unconscious but alive. The crowd erupted—Qingling Sect had won the first duel!
The Sea Cloud Kingdom disciples frowned, whispering among themselves. The Qingling disciples cheered proudly.
Subsequent Battles
Throughout the day, five duels were held. The arena became a battlefield of pride as disciples from various sects clashed—fire against wind, earth against shadow. The victors advanced to the next round; the defeated were escorted away, their pride broken.
By sunset, the first day concluded. The winners celebrated quietly, knowing the battles ahead would only grow more intense.
Night Before the Matches
The moon hung high, bathing the Qingling residence in silver light. In a secluded room, Xuanye sat calmly as his team gathered: Shui Lin, Yue Chanyin, Feng Ruo, Huo Shan, and Su Feilí.
Shui Lin paced nervously.
"Tomorrow, our real test begins…"
Feng Ruo smirked, tossing a small flame between her fingers.
"I'll burn through anyone who dares to stand in my way."
Yue Chanyin leaned against the wall, her expression cold but confident.
"Fear is pointless. Fight to win, nothing less."
Su Feilí, ever the calming presence, smiled softly.
"Do not overthink. Trust yourselves, trust your blades. We are Qingling."
Xuanye leaned back with a relaxed grin.
"Worry less. Tomorrow is just another step… and we'll take it with ease."
Their voices grew louder as they shared strategies, jokes, and reassurances. Yet, their laughter carried out of the room, catching the attention of the patrolling guards.
Moments later, two guards entered respectfully.
"Honored disciples, the night is for rest and cultivation. Please return to your rooms."
Su Feilí pouted but nodded, dragging Feng Ruo away. Shui Lin chuckled awkwardly. Yue Chanyin gave Xuanye a cold glance before walking out.
Xuanye stretched, staring at the moon one last time.
"Tomorrow… let's shake the heavens."
