Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 {Reward!?}

At the police station, Guinevere confidently walked up to the front desk, Viper unconscious and slung over her shoulder.

"I have a wanted criminal here," she announced, dropping Viper unceremoniously onto the floor. The officers looked up in surprise, their eyes widening at the sight of the notorious Viper.

"And I'm claiming the reward," Guinevere added with a smirk.

The desk sergeant stammered for a moment before composing himself.

"Miss, can you please explain how you came to apprehend this dangerous fugitive?" he asked warily.

Guinevere launched into a convincing tale, weaving together fragments of truth and fiction. She claimed to have overheard Viper bragging about his crimes at the masquerade ball and followed him when he slipped away from the festivities. When cornered, she said, Viper had attacked her, but her martial arts training had allowed her to subdue him.

The officers listened intently, their skepticism slowly giving way to admiration as Guinevere spun her story. They couldn't deny that she had indeed delivered a highvalue target right to their doorstep.

"So," Guinevere finished with a smile.

"About that reward..."

Ability Officer nodded his head.

"Thank you and please sign the papers."

Guinevere was so happy hehe she did not even care what to do! She just earned money so many wanted criminals out there come to mama!

As Guinevere signed the paperwork, she couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction wash over her. Forty million pounds was a staggering amount of money, and it would go a long way in helping her achieve her goals.

She glanced down at Viper's unconscious form, a small smirk playing on her lips. He had been a formidable opponent, but in the end, he had underestimated her. That was always a fatal mistake.

With the paperwork complete, Guinevere stood up and stretched, her muscles aching slightly from the earlier altercation. She knew she should probably head back to the ballroom and check on Lily and Penelope, but the thrill of the hunt was still coursing through her veins.

Just then, Tun Tun's voice piped up in her mind.

"Host, I've detected several other wanted criminals in the vicinity."

{Ahhh forget about it why would I want to die again! Too young to pretty!} Guinevere thought to herself she was far too young to go out right now. When she returned back home Grace was cuddling Josephine who was crying and guess what the blame fall on her not taking of Josephine.

Grace looked up as Guinevere entered the room, her expression a mixture of concern and annoyance.

"Guinevere, where have you been?" she demanded.

"Josephine has been crying nonstop since you left her alone at the ball."

Josephine sniffled loudly, burying her face in Grace's shoulder. Guinevere rolled her eyes, unimpressed by the display.

"I had more important things to attend to," she replied coolly.

"Besides, I'm not Josephine's keeper. If she can't handle herself at a simple masquerade ball, that's not my problem."

Grace's eyes narrowed, her patience wearing thin.

"That's enough, Guinevere," she snapped.

"Josephine is your sister, whether you like it or not. It's your duty to look out for her."

Josephine was secretly happy that Guinevere was being scolded. But what did Guinevere do she insulted Josephine earning her a slap from Thomas and her David. But Guinevere eyes was cold as ice and indifferent.

"Duty?" Guinevere echoed, a bitter laugh escaping her lips.

"What duty is that, exactly? To be her personal servant? Her emotional crutch?"

She shook her head, her expression hardening.

"No, I don't think so. I have my own life to live, my own battles to fight. I won't be held responsible for Josephine's fragile little feelings."

Thomas stepped forward, his hand raised as if to strike Guinevere again. But she didn't flinch, didn't even blink. She stared him down, her gaze unwavering and cold.

"Go ahead," she challenged softly.

"Hit me again. See what happens."

The room fell silent, the tension thick enough to cut with a knife. David laid a hand on Thomas' arm, holding him back.

"That's enough," he said firmly.

"Both of you. This isn't helping anything."

He turned to Guinevere, his expression stern but not unkind.

"Guinevere, I understand that this situation is... complicated. But Josephine is family. And family sticks together. Now apologize to Josephine."

"Ah uncle, cousin, auntie no need."

"No Josephine she is a lady she should apologize," Grace snapped.

"Hehe no thanks I am far to lazy," Guinevere said David strike her so hard that her lip burst open. Josephine so happy in her heart she felt like Guinevere should suffer! Tomorrow morning the DNA test would come out!

As the sun rose the next morning, Guinevere sat in the living room, a cold compress pressed against her swollen lip. She hadn't slept at all, her mind too consumed with thoughts of revenge and the impending DNA results.

Josephine stumbled downstairs, rubbing her eyes sleepily. She froze when she saw Guinevere, a smirk tugging at her lips.

"Well, well," she mocked.

"Looks like someone finally taught you a lesson."

Guinevere didn't respond, her gaze fixed on some point in the distance. Josephine giggled, settling onto the couch across from her.

"You know," she said sweetly.

"Today's a big day. The DNA test results should be coming in soon."

She leaned forward, her eyes glinting with malice.

"And I have a feeling they're going to change everything."

Just then, the front door opened and David walked in, a envelope in his hand. His expression was unreadable as he tore it open and scanned the contents.

"The results are in," he announced solemnly.

"Josephine..."

Guinevere just wanted to get this over with in her last life she was so shocked but this time did she care nope? She didn't even care parents were dirt poor.

Josephine held her breath, her eyes wide with anticipation. Guinevere remained stoic, her face an impassive mask. David cleared his throat, his gaze flicking between the two girls.

"The DNA test... confirms that Josephine is my biological daughter," he said heavily.

"And Guinevere... is not related to me by blood."

A gasp escaped Josephine's lips, a triumphant smile spreading across her face. She jumped to her feet. Grace hugged Josephine.

"My daughter you must suffered so much in the slums," Grace said and David also hugged Josephine who teared and Thomas smiled at his little sister.

"It's okay it's okay."

"Since I am not related by you hand over my parents information and I will go," Guinevere said. Josephine touched her head.

"Mum, dad! I am scared my adoptive parents also Guinevere biological they are bullied me their sons also waaa I am scared," Josephine said. Guinevere and Tun Tun were both speechless she should join the acting industry.

"I just asked for my biological parents information," Guinevere said with a sneer. Grace and David became so angry at Guinevere. Their precious daughter suffered in the slums and raised by a poor alcoholic and gambling family! Thomas hissed at Guinevere.
