He frowned. "That woman's petitions normally go through inner audit, she's not allowed inside vault." I control my feeling, because the woman has influence.
Biat led us to a vault door at end of hall topped by double-rooted arch. My heart thundered. Moon Priest opened the vault keyhole with printed seal...my name root stamp merged with registry ink.
The door slid open into a softly lit chamber wall lined with microprint copies. In the center, multi-tiered stands held only one empty slot: the Silverline archive chest.
Biat placed the chest down, I noticed water stains on the stand floor, the same root ink from echo well and the Moon Priest nodded.
A record keeper stepped forward, and he bowed. "Deliver the chest?" He opened a sealed box and withdrew a clean cloth.
He gently wiped moisture from the chest's lid as I closed eyes, the heartbeat slowed, I saw Lunara's small name beneath mine.
