the sky was orange, its change signifying the passage of time from noon to night. the cars were bustling around me, as I stood in front of an abandoned school facility. Thomas M. Cooley High School, it was placed in Detroit, Michigan.
I am here due to a mission i took while still at Oklahoma due to my previous mission, which involved the church of resurrection. I took this mission since it was in Detroit, and i had to contact someone from the church of revelation here. I didn't really know what were the details of the mission, i just grabbed it since it was in Detroit where i was already going, and it was rated B so i assumed i could handle it.
looking at the ominous campus, i swallowed my nerves and entered the school facilities. the gates creaked ominously, shivering and threatening to collapse at my push.
dead leafs falling on dry grass, and dead trees hanging on to their stature through fate, the garden of the school gave off an ominous feeling. there was no doubt it fit the setting, considering that a stray devil is supposedly in this place.
as i passed the ominous garden, small shadows danced around me, looking at me yet trying to stay out of sight. grabbing my pistol from the inner pocket of my suit, I prepared for the threat of possible combat.
one of the shadows hiding from my sight was sloppy, so i managed to catch a look at its figure.
it was a discconected eye with legs sprouting from its bottoms. the small eye with legs blinked. as it tried to hide itself from my site, i shot it.
as the gunshot resounded in the air, another small creature, this time an ear with legs, jumped in fright exposing its location to me. not wasting a second, i quickly aimed my gun and with marksman like precision i shot it.
looking around me now i could take a proper look at the small creatures around me, i saw they were all noses, ears, eyes with legs. they must be a part of the stray devil's powers.
" can i shoot all those creatures down myself ? they don't seem to want to attack me, and also if they did, i don't really see a way for them to do that with small legs and sensory organs". after a while of contemplation, i decided to leave those creatures alone and go on looking for the stray devil.
entering the physical school, i felt the amount of shadows watching, hearing, and smelling me was growing. " where can that bastard be ", i was growing anxious. " this is supposed to be a B rank mission, for prospective, the mission to kill the church of resurrection was A grade, and they were a bunch of humans with no one of them possessing a sacred gear, yeah a stray devil possessed one of them, but that was due to us not killing the cult before they summoned it so it wasn't included in the calculation of the mission ranking by the assosiation. but this stray devil seems to have intelligence, something that was rare despite how often it was for one to appear in the anime.
looking around, the small creatures weren't even trying to hide anymore. they were on lockers, in rooms looking at me through the windows to the hallway, on the ceiling hanging on loose electricity wires and such.
holding tight to my gun with my right gloved arm i began whispering illusive chants.
Light of the heavens, pure and bright,
Bless this vessel with sacred might.
By sun and star, by sky and flame,
I call the holy in Thy name.
Let no shadow linger near,
Let no darkness draw its sneer.
With mercy's fire and justice's hand,
Now let this relic holy stand. "
i didn't shoot at anything after enchanting my gun with holy power, i just had it on in case any of the creatures actually tries to attack me. looking around the place i didn't really see any sign of a stray devil aside from the creatures tailing me, " is the demon hiding from me? ".
* sigh *, I grabbed the monocle and used it to see through my left eye. closing my right eye so i can properly concentrate on what i am seeing through my left eye. looking at the small creatures that have long since stopped trying to hide themselves from me, i saw demonic aura's surrounding them.
" as i thought, those things were a part of the stray devil ", i murmured. turning my head to the left, i froze in my place.
a young girl with no facial features stood there doing nothing, she was not there a second ago, looking at her through my right eye i saw nothing in the place of the girl yet when looking through the monocle the girl was there standing menacingly.
" you can see me?", the voice of a young girl, came from the left, one of the creatures which was a mouth with arms acting as legs.
grasping my gun even tighter i looked at the small creature at the top of the red broken locker, shifting my head immediately back to the girl i could only see through my special monocle, i stared.
" can you really see me? " this time from the right i heard mouth creature speak.
taking out my gun, i held it aiming it at the girl with no facial features.
" you can really see me!! ", a mouth creature from inside one of the classrooms shouted excited, holding one of the two arms he used as legs up to the window it looked at me through.
with not a second of hesitation, i shot the young girl with my enchanted gun. " haaaaaaaaa!!!!!", each of the mouth creatures around me shouted at ones as the bullet hit the ghost girl in the face.
the girl clenched the hole that appeared in her face due to the shot from my enchanted bullet. i began to murmur another incantation in order to finish the job. but before i could finish the incantation, pale white arms escaped from the hole in her head, grasping at her face they propelled a massive creature from inside her face widening the hole caused by the gun shot.
at the end, a massive thousand handed creatures from hell stood over the pile of skin that was the ghost girl.
the massive thousand handed creatures grasping the hall encapsulating its giant form with its hundreds of hands propelled itself forward, squishing itself through the halls with its hands it rushed at me while wailing through the mouthed creatures laid through the entirety of the school.
running to the other side of the hall, i aimed my gun enchanted with holy power at the massive creature, squishing itself through the halls of the abandoned school. Shooting the enchanted bullet at the center of the creature, i saw as the bullet tore through the hands of the creature and pierced it.
" great! i can do damage to this shitty thing", like a dumb ass, i jinxed myself as the creature quickly regenerated from the injuries caused from the bullet before i could shoot another one.
" shit!!", abandoning my attack and run plan, i focused the entirety of my brain and body at running the fuck away from the monster born in hell in front of me. as i ran through the hallway, the hands of the creature came closer and closer to me and some almost grazed me.
making a turn i hear the massive creature crash into the wall of the hall, taking time to set itself correct i ran even faster, attempting to capitalize on the opportunity the dumb fuck gave me. as i ran through the hall, the screams coming from the small mouth creatures and the massive hand creature grew larger, as the eye creatures ran after me with their small feet.
looking at the massive hand creature, i saw that despite having a massive mouth with teethes at its center, it did not have any eyes to see from or ears to hear from. looking at the small eye creatures and ear creatures, i realized.
they were its form of observation," well that's a nice thing to notice, but i have no idea how is this suppose to help me in this situation. making another turn in an attempt to crash the massive creature like before i turned to the right.
and like before, the foolish creature crashed in to the walls of the hallway due to its massive form and bad view on itself since all of its small creatures were looking at me. Smiling i realized, " so if he has all of its creatures looking at me, he can't properly tell what he's main body is doing", capitalizing on this new information i make as many turns as possible in an attempt to deal damage to him.
as the creature slammed in to the walls again, and again, it was damaged all around its body and regenerating at super speed. making a turn to the right the creature slammed to the locker line and broke several of its hands, " haaaa!!!!", it shouted out in agony from the mouths of its small creatures and from the massive jaws it had in its center.
regenerating the wounds the creature resumed chasing me, making a turn to the left the same thing happened again but this time the screams of the small creatures were not heard. the massive main body was the only thing shouting as the other mouth ear eye and nose creatures stopped running after me and returned to the main body.
as each small creature returned, faces began appearing on the body of the abomination. until each creature returned to its body. Ignoring the oddity, I make a turn to the right, but this time, the creature didn't slam in to the walls like last time. Of course, due to its large body, it still had a delay, but as I was making more turns and shifts in the hallway, the creature was slowing down before any shift, making the turn less draggy.
as i ran and ran the creature was starting to catch up, no longer did my past tactic work on the thing. " dammit ", i exclaimed as the creature's hands squeezed it through the hallway getting it closer and closer to me.
making a turn to the right, i see at the end of the hallway a dead end, " shit! ", grasping my gun, I began to whisper an incantation to it.
"Power sealed, now rise, unchained,
Let the force within no more be tamed.
By spark and soul, by name once bound
,Break the seal and shake the ground.
From quiet steel to thunder's call,
Awaken might and shatter all!"
the gun glew red, biting my thumb i spray the blood on the bullet and reload the gun with it. once the gun was reloaded i drew back the primer and clicked the triger, as the bullet flied towards the dead end of the hall it shattered the concret holding the structure together.
seeing the hole i made in the wall i jumped through it and escaped outside the school, turning around i see the multi handed creature right behind me, one of its hands extended to grab my leg. i aim my gun at it and shot it exploding the arm.
i fell a few floors down and landed on the floor, with minimal bruises to speak of. looking forward i saw the hundred handed and thousand faced monster trying to figure out how to walk before it grasped the floor with its hands and used them to crowle to my direction.
raising my gun i repeatedly shot the defiled monstrosity, yet the wounds healed at a pace faster than i shot. raising one of its arms, it extends it long and swings it at me like a whip, * crack *, it cracks as i jump over it.
raising two arms this time he swings one of them at me, placing it low like last time so i jump over it. yet as i am in the air he swings the other arm swiping me to the other part of the garden , only stoped by a tree that collapses unbder the force of my impact.
as i rise from the floor i see another arm going my way, attempting to kill me...
"In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, I call upon the light of Heaven. to cast away the evil infront of me, so no more of its corruption will tarnish our beautiful world.
Amen."
with the final amen a bright blue light appears, and slams in to the hand of the monster splitting it in two.
looking at the person who casted this light, i see a brown haird teen around my age on a bike wearing delivery clothes. " are you ok dude? what the hell is a stray devil doing here ", i heard the teen shout out loud.
not wasting any time I sprinted to the exit, taking the oppurtunity the young teen provided to me to scrable out of this place. passing the teen i hear the monster getting up behind me, " i am leaving this thing to you lil priest ", i said to the person who is obviously a priest judging by the attack he herld at the monster before hand.
" hey, dont leave me alone here", the young priest in delivery clothes shouted out to me. disregarding his please i run away. yet before i could make it to the exit the monster threw an unroothed tree at the gates.
stopping in my tracks i see that the exit is blocked by the tree, i considered climbing atop of it, but let the idea go after hearing the monster's steps behind me. " i dont have enough time to climb the thing, and i dont have enough time to enchat my gun and destroy it either.
turning around i run straight back to the building, " where are you going this thing is going to catch up to you ", i heard a bicycle ring as the young priest drove towards me.
" get on the bike ", he proclaimed while stopping near me. getting on the bike without delay, i sit at the back of it while the young priest drove around. " the exit is blocked, where should we go?", the teen asked as the monster was rushing towards us, its hundreds of hands grasping at the dry grass and pushing the monstrosity towards our location.
" enter the school, the creature has limited mobility in there. " i shouted at the young priest, directing him to enter the school as the faster than before creature approaches our location.
entering the building through the same entrance as before we rush through the school, abandoning the bicycle to properly maneuver the halls. we run, turning like crazy we made a swift 90 degree turn to the right and entered through the double door.
closing the door behind us we barricaded the thing with everything we can get our hands on, before we finaly took a breather. we didn't hear any slams on the door, so the demon probably didnt even know we were in this room.
taking a look at the room we entered, i noticed it wasnt even a room but a pool with a shatered roof, through which moonlight came in, and insects invaded. looking around i see the entire room was full of algy and plant growths, a mark of the time passed.
the pool itself was, suprisingly full of water, tho it was covered with algy and probably infected with every bacteria known to man. as water droplets were falling off the broken water pipe extending down from the broken roof, my thoughts were interrupted by the yelling of the young priest.
" hey dude, what are we going to do to get the hell out of here", looking at me worried he asked. taking a better look at the young man i responded, " we have to kill the stray", stating so, i see as the teen gets even more panicked.
" why? we cant just run away from the thing? also if the gates are blocked, we can still climb through them". " no!", i said flatly, " this demon is an intelligent one, its likely it has blocked the exit of the main building, traping us inside".
looking at the devastated young man i say, " you are a priest aren't you? why are you so scared of a stray devil? ". looking at me he responded ", i aint qualified to be called a priest yet, i am still in training" .
looking at the man i could tell that he was lying pretty easily, but since i had respect for his basic privacy i didnt dig in to him for the truth , all that mattered is that he isnt considered a priest yet.
looking at the pool, an idea poped in to my head as to how to kill the demon. " hey kid", i asked the young teen, " can you bless the water of the pool and turn it to holy water". looking at my face, clearly stressed out by the pressure of the situation he responded, " yes, i can turn regular water in to holy water, but turning this big pool in to holy water will take me sum time".
" great!", i said responding to the teen, looking at him again i realized i dont know his name. " hey kid! what is your name?", looking at me, he seemed to have regained his calm.
looking at me and responding with a smile, he said, " i am Princeton, your friendly neighborhood delivery man".
