Maya's POV
The morning vanished while I alternated between conversations with Cole about his mother and listening to Damon explain the significance of each item discovered in Tiffany's storage unit. Tiffany, the maid who had either died or been murdered—we still weren't certain which. Before diving into her diary, I decided we needed sustenance. I headed to the kitchen to prepare my father's favorite dish: minced meat with mashed potatoes. Ophelia joined me, taking charge of dessert. We were both determined to pamper my father during these turbulent times.
"Daughter, your grandmother taught you well. You cook just as wonderfully as she did," my father said with a warm smile after we finished eating. He turned to Ophelia and added, "And you make the absolute best flan I've ever tasted."
