Maya's POV
Lana emerged from Owen's office with a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes. It was obvious her history with Damian was weighing on her mind.
"Hey, let's grab some coffee with Lana," Owen suggested, following her out. "I thought she'd be ecstatic about landing this position..."
"I am happy, Owen," Lana insisted as we made our way to the break room. "Just concerned about certain... workplace dynamics." Her body language betrayed her anxiety despite her attempt to appear calm.
"Dean't stress about it," Owen assured her while distributing coffee and pastries. "Damian's evolved into a better person since you last knew him. If he gives you any trouble, just tell me and I'll handle him personally."
I seized the opportunity to change subjects. "How did things go with Thea?" Owen had traveled to her parents' home, hoping to salvage their marriage. Judging by his expression, the outcome wasn't promising.
