Maya's POV
My heart raced as Damon strode toward me with determined steps. His face was a storm of emotions – worry mixed with frustration. He burst through the hospital doors like a force of nature, stopping directly in front of me with his hands planted firmly on his hips and eyes narrowed to slits.
Something about his dramatic entrance triggered an unexpected reaction in me. A bubble of laughter escaped my lips, and once it started, I couldn't contain it. I doubled over, laughing until my sides ached and tears streamed down my face.
Owen began fanning me frantically as I struggled to catch my breath. Lana covered her mouth, fighting her own urge to laugh at the absurdity of the situation. Damon just stared at me like I'd completely lost my mind.
When I finally regained some composure, I wiped the tears from my cheeks with one hand while extending my phone to him with the other. He took it, examined the black screen, and let out an exasperated huff.
