Maya's POV
I refused to let Damon's family stay at a hotel. No matter how fancy, a hotel would still feel cold and impersonal, especially when their son had a perfectly good apartment where they could stay. Damon had welcomed my family with open arms when they visited. It only seemed fair to extend the same courtesy to his family.
I had another agenda too. I wanted to observe their family dynamics up close and hopefully bridge the gap between them once and for all. I needed to hear their version of events and maybe facilitate some healing. If they stayed at a hotel, I knew Damon would find every excuse to avoid meaningful conversation.
I also recognized that Lana was my secret weapon. She seemed to be the only one who could talk to her father without things escalating into an argument. So bringing them all together under our roof made perfect sense, even if it meant rearranging our living situation temporarily.
