Damon's POV
I couldn't wrap my head around Maya's decision to invite my entire family to our apartment. To add insult to injury, she'd surrendered our bedroom to my parents, leaving me to bunk with Raymond for the night. The prospect of sleeping without her beside me soured my mood further. Still, I was willing to endure it for her sake, since this seemed important to her.
As the evening progressed, watching my parents act as if they had never stood against my relationship with Maya made my skin crawl. If listening to them would make Maya happy, fine—I'd do it. But that didn't mean anything would change between us after they walked out our door. Their presence didn't erase their past actions.
"Damon!" Maya shot me a warning glance, clearly reading the hostility in my expression.
"Tiny one, they're here as you wanted. I'll listen as promised, but I'm not waiting until tomorrow." My tone left no room for negotiation.
