I cradled my little one against my chest, savoring the quietness between us. The warmth of her body against mine felt like home, but I knew we both needed rest after such an emotional day.
"Time for bed, little one. You have a house full of guests to entertain tomorrow, even if it's a holiday," I whispered against her hair. She lifted her face and graced me with a smile that made my heart skip.
"I think we need a bigger place," Maya suggested, her eyes twinkling with unspoken dreams.
