Lana's POV
Nervousness gnawed at my stomach as I prepared for my first day as Damian's assistant. The irony wasn't lost on me—working for someone who would fire me in a heartbeat if not for my brother's influence. Yet despite my apprehension, a flutter of anticipation coursed through me at the thought of seeing Damian again after all these years. The last time our paths crossed, I was just an awkward teenager with a hopeless crush. I'd spent the entire night tossing and turning, replaying possible scenarios in my head.
"Lana! Earth to Lana!" Damon's voice cut through my thoughts.
I blinked, realizing I'd completely zoned out. "Sorry, what were you saying?"
My brother sighed, his expression a mix of exasperation and concern. "I said I'm driving you and Maya to work today, and I'll pick you both up afterward. Dean't argue."
"Whatever you say," I muttered, my mind already drifting back to Damian as we made our way to the office building.
