Damon's POV
I stormed out of the college building to find the patrol officers lounging against their car. My blood was already boiling, barely registering Lana and Leo Philip following behind me as I marched toward the officers.
"Which one of you geniuses claimed Maya never left the building?" I demanded, stopping inches from them.
The first officer shifted uncomfortably. "Inspector, we didn't see the young lady exit."
"Then explain to me how you failed to stop that suspicious man who walked right past you?" I clenched my fists, fighting the urge to slam them both against their patrol car.
"Inspector, we didn't consider it necessary to intervene," the same officer replied defensively.
"Not necessary?" My voice rose with each word. "Your assignment was to protect a woman under threat of kidnapping, and you saw someone suspicious but didn't act? What kind of officers are you?"
I noticed the second officer fidgeting nervously, running his hand through his hair.
