Claire's POV
These past days had been absolutely dreadful. I still hadn't devised a proper plan to extract money from Orson. My thoughts scattered when the maid burst into the living room, breathing heavily and waving her arms frantically.
"Claire! There are three men at the door. Three! One claims to be a court officer looking for young Justin, and the other two—rather unsavory types if I'm honest—say Connor sent them to see you." The woman's voice echoed through the entire house.
Justin walked into the living room, his brow furrowed. "Why would a court officer be asking for me, Kristen?"
"He insisted on speaking only with you directly, sir," the maid replied with wide eyes.
I rolled my eyes, already irritated. "Just bring them all in at once."
Kristen scurried away, returning moments later with three men trailing behind her. They stood awkwardly in my living room, waiting.
