Maya's POV
I was absolutely thriving in my new position. Working with Adrian had been wonderful, but being in Liam's office took things to an entirely different level. My responsibilities were more extensive and intellectually stimulating. At Adrian's, I'd worked in sales which was fine for a while, but I'd grown weary of the constant selling. This role was refreshing because I functioned as more than just a secretary—I had substantial duties that challenged me.
"Tiny Cipher, your dedication is impressive. You pick things up so quickly!" Owen handed me a stack of documents with an approving nod. "You already know exactly what to do with these."
"Thanks, Owen. I'm honestly thrilled to be here!" And I genuinely was—until that elevator door slid open.
