Stella's POV
I woke up feeling like I'd been hit by a truck, my heart heavy and my mind clouded. But I refused to let this melancholy dictate my day. I needed to be stronger than whatever was trying to pull me down. After a long, steamy shower and getting dressed with particular care, I powered on my phone while nursing my coffee.
Atlas had messaged about our plans, but I decided canceling was the safest option. No need to drag anyone else into my mess. I texted him a vague excuse and promised to reschedule soon. He responded with an adorable crying baby sticker that almost made me smile.
After mulling over my options, I decided that once I wrapped things up with the company, I'd retreat to my grandmother's countryside home for a few days. The peaceful surroundings would give me space to breathe and think clearly.
Right on cue, the company sent a message requesting my presence at two o'clock to finalize my paperwork. Perfect timing—I could head straight to Grandma's afterward.
