Damon's POV
The tension was palpable as we arrived at my parents' house. Their surprise was evident when they saw us at the doorstep. My mother rushed forward with open arms, engulfing me in a tight embrace.
"Son, you're finally back!" she exclaimed, her voice thick with emotion.
I gently disengaged from her grasp. "Dean't get excited, Mom. This is just a conversation, not a homecoming. I'm returning to Haven Harbor today," I stated firmly. Her hand rose to cup my cheek, the gesture so familiar yet now feeling foreign.
"When will you understand where you truly belong?" she asked, her eyes pleading.
"That place isn't here anymore, Mom," I replied, moving past her to acknowledge my father with a curt nod.
He smiled smugly. "I believe you'll change your stance soon enough."
"Is that because of Sasha, Dad?" I responded with a cynical smile. "I'm curious how she managed to nullify our divorce decree."
