Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: W's Status Screen

The decor was quite ordinary, and it didn't seem to be set up with traps, but it lacked the feel of being lived in. A thin layer of dust coated the TV and coffee table, suggesting they hadn't been used in a long time.

Two slightly yellowed black-and-white photos hung on the wall, the faces somewhat resembling the boy, causing her to silently avert her gaze.

This is a home lacking in personality, everything appearing rigid and old-fashioned. The only noteworthy aspect is the place being filled with books everywhere.

W walked into the bathroom Lin Guang had mentioned. Fortunately, the differences between the two worlds weren't entirely unfamiliar. She fumbled around to turn on the light, with her reflection mirrored in the white tiles.

She tentatively turned on the faucet, watching the pure tap water flow endlessly. She was a little dazed, extending her hand to let it flow into her palm.

How long had it been since she had seen such a facility?

Not since crossing over to this world, but before being hunted by enemies and somehow falling here, when she was still wandering that harsh land.

Often, people killed each other not for noble or complex reasons but merely for food and water.

After washing her hands thoroughly and cleaning her face, she looked at herself in the mirror.

There wasn't much change from before arriving in this world, just that she looked much haggier. The madness on her face had receded, making her feel somewhat unfamiliar.

She patted her face to perk herself up, once again revealing that smile tinged with madness.

She couldn't continue being so weak.

Turning around, her gaze was suddenly caught by the toilet with its white ring.

Although she inexplicably seemed to have no need for toilets since arriving in this world, she was still curious about the few buttons next to the toilet and reached out to unbutton her pants.

A minute later.

"Yikes!!!!"

Upon hearing her scream, Lin Guang immediately rushed out from the kitchen. W, with her pants hoisted up and her face flushed red, looked up, baring her teeth with a somewhat cute little fang, and said fiercely:

"It's none of your business! Go do what you were doing!"

Lin Guang's peripheral vision caught some water stains on the toilet seat and her pants. Very wisely, he said nothing, pushed up his glasses, and turned back into the kitchen before his expression broke out.

After finishing her freshening up, and with nothing else noteworthy around, W returned to the living room and watched the boy handling food, suddenly feeling somewhat lost.

There was supposed to be some "Equal Contract," but wasn't he trusting her too much, as if he was truly giving her limitless trust?

Feeling disbelieving, W plopped down on the sofa, staring intently at the boy's back, but he was focused beyond belief, not sparing her a glance. W pouted, her black and red Demon tail behind her wagging back and forth erratically.

More than an hour passed, and plate after plate of food was finally brought out.

Gulp...

An uncontrollable physiological reaction caused W to swallow a mouthful of saliva, as her stomach grumbled treacherously.

"Eating now?"

Seeing her remain motionless, not even getting up from the sofa, Lin Guang removed his apron and tentatively asked.

"..."

W didn't reply, just stared at Lin Guang with a hint of vigilance shining in her eyes.

After being dumbfounded for a while, Lin Guang responded, shrugging, then sitting at the dining table, picking up a piece of bright red sweet and sour pork ribs, glistening with syrup; sweet but not greasy, sour but not acrid;

Picked a piece of tender fish from the belly of braised fish, the fish melting in the mouth;

Grabbed a braised shrimp, twisting off the head, and sucked out the shrimp brain;

...

Finally, he scooped out a bowl of delicious-smelling, slightly milky white fish soup from the pot, a few green scallions floating on top, blew on it to cool, and sipped;

The next moment, W leaped up from the living room sofa to the dining table. She tried to pick up chopsticks like Lin Guang did but, unable to adapt, immediately discarded them, grabbing the food barehanded and devouring it.

[You fed W, the Starlight progress bar increased.]

[Starlight progress bar 100%, obtained 1 Star Shard.]

Indeed, the system was just like in the game.

With a mere thought from Lin Guang, a deep blue, semi-transparent crystal appeared before him, visible only to him.

In reality, the crystal's actual location wasn't in the outside world but at the center of his Sea of Spirit; what appeared in front of his eyes was just Lin Guang's visual projection.

Inside the crystal were three slightly glowing white dots, corresponding to "Warrior," "Caretaker," and "Cultivator."

Outside, a Star Shard was orbiting the crystal, blinking. Once ten Star Shards were gathered, they would transform into Starlight, the physical manifestation of the miracle concept, more plainly known as Skill Points, and could be integrated into the three dots within the crystal, unlocking the Skill Tree.

Being a master in the gaming domain, Lin Guang naturally knew how to open the talent tree to maximize benefits. As early as in the taxi, he decisively invested the universal Starlight given upon system activation into "Cultivation," thus acquiring the ability "Eye of Omniscience and Omnipotence."

Simply put, it allowed Lin Guang to see the status panels of himself and the Spirit Beasts.

Awakening a Blue Talent, with his Spiritual Power far exceeding his peers, was something he had foreseen, but the fact that his Spirit Master level was 7 still pleasantly surprised him.

Having been stuck by his talent for half a year without getting the chance to engrave any Spirit Pattern yet reaching this level indicated his potential and meditation efficiency were rather good.

He casually closed his panel and glanced at W, who was eating voraciously, then opened her panel; this one was significantly more complex.
