Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Sudden Attack

It was another ordinary day, and the little demons in the valley could live one more day, which was such a beautiful thing.

At dusk, Wang Wu began to move, but this time he didn't dash out as he usually did, heading straight for that rock crevice according to the route. Instead, using the cover of grass, he would enter a Level 5 Concealment State after advancing a certain distance. He closely observed his surroundings to ensure there was no danger before choosing a safer route to continue forward.

He had no other choice but to do so.

On the other side of the cliff, the Flame Scorpion Race had replaced the Black Snake Race and became the new overlord. Who knows what new changes might have occurred there over the course of the day.

Additionally, those Gray Rats were his arch-enemies and had basically figured out his movements and routes.

They had been trying to ambush and intercept him over the past few days, but each attempt ended in failure. However, as long as they kept learning from their experiences, there would eventually be a successful attempt, so Wang Wu couldn't recklessly take risks.

After all, the experience he summarized was that to survive in this valley, one must keep a low profile, not seek supremacy, not engage in conquest, not be greedy, and not make enemies; the key was to remain a tranquil and beautiful Xiong Xiong King!

This time, Wang Wu took a big detour, covering almost two hundred meters to an area that wasn't Gray Rat territory, as he rounded the west side of that cliff.

It's worth mentioning that the terrain of this valley is in an overlapping zigzag pattern, which is one zigzag connected to another.

Overall, it stretches northeast-southwest, originating from a medium-sized mountain two kilometers away.

The southeastern and northwestern directions are the foothills extending from this mountain, forming this valley and several other valleys.

The terrain is quite complex.

In the position where Wang Wu was, that cliff was considered a landmark, located at the most protruding part of the zigzag. Ahead was a large area of shrubs, the most common in the valley, with several small streams flowing and converging, heading southwest.

For some time, Wang Wu had been operating on this side of the cliff. He had never ventured to the other side, which was the southwest.

Much of the reason was that on this side, there were six very tall trees where a flock of red birds lived. Every morning and evening, these flame-like red birds flew joyously in the orange sunlight. They seemed harmless but were actually formidable enough that even the Gray Rats had to pay tribute to them.

Wang Wu took this detour today out of necessity, so he was very cautious, almost stopping every three steps. With the dense grass as cover, he managed to pass through this area safely.

By now, the sun had set, and the light in the valley suddenly became dim. The red birds also returned to the trees to rest, providing a rare moment of peace in the valley, as these red birds were the noisiest.

Wang Wu quickened his pace because he was less than fifty meters from the rock crevice, just needing to round the base of the cliff.

But as he neared the cliff, an overwhelming sense of unease suddenly overcame him. His reflexes were quick; after all, he'd honed them while competing in wits with the little demons.

With a roll, he leaped away from his spot, but the next second, a layer of spider web, like a bride's white wedding dress, drifted down from the sky. Even though he'd jumped from his original position, he was still partially covered.

Then he saw, on this side of the cliff, about four to five meters up, a large rock protruded like a devil's tongue.

At this moment, beneath the rock, seven blood-red spiders the size of washbasins were dangling like celestial fairies.

What was even more terrifying and eerie was that they could weave a hexagonal web together and then cast it from above to enshroud their prey.

"You've intruded on the Blood Spiders' territory. You are under attack by the Blood Spider Lady. Your mobility decreases by 30%..."

A message belatedly appeared.

Wang Wu couldn't scrutinize it, nor could he afford the time to free himself from the web on his lower body. Instead, he rolled on the spot, and almost immediately, another hexagonal web was cast from above, but this one missed.

Seizing the chance, Wang Wu furiously rubbed the web off his body on the ground, successfully freed himself, and fled without looking back.

Unexpected, indeed; this valley was truly full of hidden perils at every step.

Quickly, he made it back to the rock crevice.

It was safe here; no traps awaited him, nor were any Gray Mouse Knights guarding it. It was practically the only pure land for him in this world.

He checked every nook and cranny, finding no hidden little demons. Only then did Wang Wu retreat to the deepest part of the crevice and swiftly entered a dream.

Daily sleep was very important, too.

He was still waiting to grow into the next stage.

Who knows how long had passed, but right as he was sleeping soundly, he was suddenly startled awake, and his Level 5 Concealment disappeared instantly.

"Damn it!"

He thought to himself, alarmed.

The next moment, before he could see what was happening, a fireball the size of a child's fist came crashing down from above the crevice.

"Boom!"

A blast sounded, hitting Wang Wu squarely as if he had been struck by a giant hammer. Then a powerful force erupted, flipping him onto his back. To make matters worse, the fireball ignited his fur, turning him into a blazing Xiong Xiong in an instant!

The intense pain nearly broke him, making it feel as if his bear skin was being peeled off alive.

Desperately, he rolled on the ground, barely managing to extinguish the flames on his body. The second fireball then fell again.

This time, Wang Wu rolled furiously and finally evaded it, but the fireball exploded a meter away, flipping him over again, leaving him in extreme disarray.

Not daring to hesitate any longer, he bolted out of the crevice like a dog that had lost its home.

Meanwhile, lines of messages silently passed by.

"Your hiding place has been discovered by Scorpion Sentinels. They have tactically surrounded you!"

"A Scorpion Priest has launched an attack on your hiding place. Your Level 5 Concealment State has been broken, and you have been locked on."

"You have suffered 20 points of fireball bombardment damage and continuous flame burn damage!"

"You have suffered 15 points of flame burning damage! "

"You have suffered 15 points of splash damage from fireball bombardment."

"You have endured 15 points of flame burn damage in total."

...

"Damn!"

Diving into a thicket in one breath, Wang Wu endured the severe pain all over his body and forced his Level 5 Concealment Talent to take effect; otherwise, he would truly be dead without a trace on such a night.

In fact, the commotion here had already drawn the Gray Mouse Knights from within the bushes.

Fortunately, in the face of death, his willpower remained strong. He withstood the severe pain, maintained three seconds of silence, and activated Level 5 Concealment. Luckily, even though all his fur was burned off, it didn't affect the effect of his Level 5 Concealment Talent.

This time, he had been careless.

Trusting his Level 5 Concealment Talent too much, he neglected that due to his antics these days, his hiding place had been discovered.

Level 5 Concealment could ensure enemies wouldn't find him, but his hiding place couldn't escape.

As long as someone with a range attack like a fireball probed it, they could blast him out.

This was a lesson written in blood.

"Squeak, squeak, squeak!"

Six Gray Mouse Knights frantically searched through the bush, clearly having smelled something, perhaps charred odors.

Wang Wu thought to himself that this was bad. Although his Level 5 Concealment Talent was powerful enough to prevent the Gray Rats from finding him even if they were just a meter away, the scent betrayed him.

Thus, these few Gray Mouse Knights had no intention of giving up, continuously summoning more companions, intending to conduct a carpet search of this thicket!

He couldn't wait any longer.

Biting his teeth, Wang Wu lunged at the moment a Gray Mouse Knight was searching half a meter away from him, pouncing it to the ground with a single swipe, snapping its spine.

The next second, he didn't even have time to claim the spoils, immediately darting into the bushes. He needed to jump into the stream to wash off the charred smell from his body, or else this long night would be his death.
