The brawny man turned toward the voice, and his pupils suddenly contracted.
Renya stood there with his blade, his crimson Sharingan locked tightly onto the man in front of him.
"Impossible..." the brawny man muttered in disbelief. "I clearly injured you—how are you still standing?"
His earlier attack had shown no mercy. Under normal circumstances, anyone hit by that kick would be incapacitated, if not outright dead.
But the boy before him had defied all logic!
Renya raised a hand to wipe the blood from the corner of his mouth, then slightly lifted the blade in his hand.
"Now it's my turn to strike back."
On the ground, Sarutobi Hiruzen wanted to help, but the pain in his body made it impossible for him to get up.
Uchiha Kagami and Shimura Danzō were in the same state. All they could do now was pin their hopes on Renya defeating the brawny man.
The man's condition was clearly worse than before. His chakra had dwindled to the point where he could no longer sustain the Lightning Release Armor.
Gritting his teeth, he squeezed out what little chakra remained in his body. Lightning flickered faintly around his single arm.
With a sudden step forward, the ground cracked beneath his feet.
This strike was far weaker than when he was at full power, but it was still lethal enough to shatter rock.
Renya wasn't in great shape either. After taking a full-force kick, it felt like his organs had shifted positions.
If not for the terrifying healing ability he had developed over the past few years, he'd still be lying on the ground like Hiruzen and the others.
The three-tomoe Sharingan in Renya's eyes spun wildly, clearly tracking the trajectory of the man's attack. He preemptively dodged before it could land.
The brawny man hadn't expected Renya to evade so easily. Just as he was about to follow up with another attack, he saw a sharp blade slicing toward him.
"Shrrrk—" A sound of fabric tearing rang out.
The blade grazed his clothes, and he narrowly dodged the strike without sustaining injury.
"Useless!" The man sneered. His lone arm shifted and he delivered a vicious elbow to Renya's chest.
"Your attacks have no effect on me!"
Crack—the sound of a rib breaking rang out.
Renya spat out a mouthful of blood, but at that close range, he suddenly lifted his head. Blood dripping from his lips curled into a cold smirk.
"You really think... my attacks are useless?"
The brawny man's pupils constricted sharply as an ominous feeling crept into his heart.
The next second, Renya opened his mouth wide.
"Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique!"
A scorching fireball erupted from Renya's mouth. At such close range, the brawny man had no time to dodge—his body was instantly engulfed in flames.
"Aaaaahhh—"
Amid the roar of the explosion, the man's screams rang out.
Renya didn't let his guard down. He knew an attack of this level wouldn't be enough to kill the man.
Sure enough, with a furious roar, the brawny man burst out from the sea of fire, his body trailing black smoke.
His once-dark skin now looked no different from charred coal. His exposed flesh was covered in scorched, black burns. The stump of his right arm had turned to carbonized meat, emitting a sharp, acrid stench.
"A mere Fire Release..." the man panted, bloodshot eyes glaring. "You think that's enough to kill me?!"
He hadn't expected Renya to form hand seals with one hand and catch him off guard.
Fortunately, in the instant he was engulfed in flames, he had managed to activate a brief burst of Lightning Armor to shield himself.
While he had avoided a fatal injury, the effort had drained his chakra to the brink.
Renya said nothing. He simply raised his blade again.
His three-tomoe Sharingan clearly saw that the man's breathing had become erratic, and the flow of Lightning chakra was no longer stable.
"Your chakra is almost gone," Renya said quietly.
He was still in decent condition—he could definitely outlast his opponent in a drawn-out fight.
One had to admit, this Lightning Release Armor was truly formidable.
Five against one, and not only did they fail to gain the upper hand—they were completely suppressed.
If the man hadn't overexerted himself and run out of chakra to sustain his Lightning Armor, it would've been hard to say who would win...
"Dammit! With me here, you won't win!" the brawny man roared, stomping the ground as his lone arm swung down like a battle axe amid flying rubble.
But to Renya, the man's attack seemed to be in slow motion.
He sidestepped and flicked his katana upward. Without the protection of the Lightning Armor, the blade easily sliced through the man's skin, drawing a trail of blood.
This time, with no barrier from the Lightning Armor, the poison entered his bloodstream directly through the wound.
"Gah..." The man staggered backward as dark purple veins rapidly spread from the wound.
Without hesitation, he stabbed his fingers into the injury like blades, gouging out a chunk of flesh.
Blood gushed from his abdomen, but the poison's spread noticeably slowed.
Renya looked at him with a hint of admiration. This guy was ruthless.
Ruthless to his enemies—and even more so to himself.
No wonder he'd become the future Second Raikage...
Honestly, anyone who became a Raikage couldn't possibly be weak.
While Renya respected him, he had no intention of letting him go.
"It's useless," Renya said, watching the poison still spreading from the man's abdomen. "The poison I developed travels through the bloodstream. Cutting out the wound only delays death."
The man's expression darkened.
He could feel numbness spreading from his abdomen to his heart. His muscles began trembling uncontrollably.
It was clear—he didn't have much time left.
"Then... let's end this quickly!"
The man let out a furious roar and unleashed the last of his Lightning Release chakra!
Electricity flickered once more across his body, though dimmer than before.
In a near-suicidal move, he forcefully extracted his final reserves of chakra. His speed suddenly surged!
Boom!
A heavy punch slammed into Renya's abdomen, sending him flying dozens of meters.
Renya only stopped after crashing through a large tree, coughing up another mouthful of blood.
But he immediately rolled back to his feet, Sharingan locked onto his enemy.
His strong regeneration meant he could take more punishment than most.
If it had been Sarutobi Hiruzen or the others, they'd still be lying on the ground, unable to move.
"This state will only last thirty seconds at most!"
Renya judged that in thirty seconds, the man would be completely drained of chakra and succumb to the poison.
The man attacked with wild ferocity, clearly determined to take Renya down with him.
Naturally, Renya wouldn't let him succeed. He kept his distance, forcing the man to chase him.
The brawny man could feel the poison continually ravaging his body. Watching Renya dodge again and again, his anxiety grew.
"Die!" he bellowed, raising his arm as lightning condensed into a blinding spear.
This was his ultimate move—his final gambit.
If it landed, he could drag Konoha's genius down with him!
But just as he was about to hurl the spear, he suddenly locked eyes with a pair of blood-red pupils.
The Sharingan's genjutsu caused the man's body to hesitate for an instant.
"Flying Thunder God Slash!"
Renya seized the moment. In a flash, he appeared before the brawny man and drove his blade straight through his heart.
The man's eyes widened as he stared at Renya in disbelief. The spear of lightning he had been holding instantly vanished.
"Your Lightning Armor... really was strong."
